The Spencer Scoop
Spencer Elementary - April 3, 2020
Even though I kind of knew it was coming, I have to say I am still in shock that our traditional
year is over. The governor’s order yesterday was 17 pages long, and as a district, we are still
digesting it and trying to come up with the best plan possible. Some parts we were expecting and are ready for, other parts we are trying to come up with a plan. We have to submit a plan to the county by April 8th and hope for a quick approval. You will be receiving information from the district both later today and Monday.
Because of these new challenges, it's going to take additional time from me and unfortunately, not going to be able to continue with morning announcements. My goal is once we get the professional development completed for the staff, implementation of the new learning model, and things are up and running, that I can get back to it. Right now, I need to spend my time with the teachers to help them continue learning for our students.
Here's what I do know, you don't need me to make morning announcements. We have over 500 students that could take the reins and do it! You could write them, post it to the Spencer Facebook group, Instagram, or Twitter accounts. You can lead the way, and you have far better jokes than me. So, students, you take charge and go for it. Maybe a parent could help organize? In the words of Nike, Just Do It!
I miss your kids; I miss getting a high-five in the morning, reading a story in their class, or sneaking some recess time. I miss seeing the joy that appears on the kids' faces when Buckley enters the room and the visible calming effect he has. I miss chatting with you, too, or just exchanging a "move along" with a smile in the drop-off line.
I can speak for the Spencer staff when I say; we constantly have your families on our minds as we all struggle with the new normal.
It may look like you are surrounded, but please know your Spencer family is surrounding you too, six feet away, but we are still there. Your safety and emotional well-being are the most important things to us; we'll figure out everything else.
Take care of each other,
B.Renner
Message From the Media Center
Hello Spencer Roadrunners,
I am very excited to share a new program called Flipgrid. I just started a new Flipgrid for us to share what we are reading. I miss seeing you all in the school library. Go to https://flipgrid.com/9772ca36 and put in this code adams0583 and you then click the big green PLUS sign and share what you have been reading. If you click on my picture you can hear what I am reading right now. This is only for us Roadrunners so no worries about it being shared anywhere else. TEACHERS & STAFF if you would also like to let us know what you are reading please join the fun. Hope to hear from many of our families. ~Mrs. Adams
Below you will also find storytime with Mrs. Adams. Since we are not together for library enjoy this read aloud.
