Welcome to 7th Grade!
August 5, 2020
Welcome FC Class of 2026!
My name is Ashley Hammond and I am the principal at Fountain Central Jr/Sr High School. On behalf of our incredible faculty, staff, students, and community, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Mustang family! We are incredibly excited that you and your child will be attending school at FC this year. This is the first of many communications you will receive from me during your child's time at FC, so please let me take a moment to stress a few very important points:
• At Fountain Central, our goal is to provide your child with engaging educational learning experiences each and every day.
• Please know that your child’s safety is priority #1. Our teachers and staff take issues of safety very seriously because we believe that the most basic needs must be met in order for a child to learn.
• At FC, we focus on building positive relationships with students and parents. You are a vital part of the learning process and we need you to walk with us on this journey.
• At FC, we encourage our teachers to develop genuine and caring bonds with our students so that no student feels alone and always has someone they can go to. We have built Homeroom/Advisory periods into our schedule for this very reason. Students meet with their Homeroom/Advisory teacher on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday of each week.
I could go on and on about the great things that make Fountain Central an amazing place to learn everyday, but that could easily turn into a 10-page letter! I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know that we’re excited to welcome you to Fountain Central. I look forward to our learning partnership for years to come.
Yours in Education,

Daily Schedule
Must be in 1st period by 8:00 am
Dismissed daily at 3:05 pm
Every student has 7 periods/classes everyday
30 minute lunch - All junior high students have B lunch
7th grade elective classes: JH FACS (Family and Consumer Science), Current Events, JH SEL (social emotional learning), STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), Middle School Computers, JH Band, JH Choir
School Day Procedures
Cell phones: Cell phones should be off and put away during class time unless a teacher has given permission to use for educational purposes. Cell phones can be used during lunch time.
Passing Periods: Students are required to wear masks during passing periods. Music plays in the hallways over the PA system. The music will play after the bell at the end of the class period. The music will STOP playing when there is 1 minute left to get to your next class period. This will help 7th grade students know when they should be headed to their next class.
Lockers: Students should not share lockers or share locker combinations. Students are issued locks and are expected to keep lockers locked and secure
Backpacks and Athletic Bags: If a student has a large athletic bag for practice after school, those can be left in a teachers classroom first thing in the morning (they won't fit in your locker).
Gym/PE Clothes: T-shirt with sleeves, appropriate athletic shorts, socks, and tennis shoes. PE clothes should be at school by August 13th. Anyone who needs assistance with this, just let us know.
How to Open Your Locker!
In addition, I wanted to mention that we came across a app that you can download to practice opening a school lock. The app is called "School Lock". I am adding a picture of the app below. I have downloaded the app and practiced putting combinations in to open the lock. With that being said, your locker number and locker combination are both listed in your Harmony Family Access account under "Schedule". See the picture below.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. WE WILL HELP EVERYONE on day one!
