EPPC advocates inclusive education

CEBU CITY, July 30 (PIA)-- A curriculum that would fit all types of students---with or without disability. This was the aim of a workshop recently conducted by the Edsa People Power Commission (EPPC) in Cebu.


The Workshop entitled “AGAKA: Workshop on Inclusive Education” was attended by representatives from the different sectors. Inclusive education is one of the advocacies of EPPC.

New PRO7 head pushes for reward-punishment system; God-fearing personnel

CEBU CITY, Aug.1 (PIA) -- Newly installed Police Regional Office 7 director, PCSupt Danilo Constantino vows to impose effective reward-punishment system and establish a God-fearing police force.


Constantino in his speech during his formal installation recently said he will ensure that a system will be followed in ensuring that there will be a disciplined and competent police force. READ MORE

Pharmaceutical firm interacts with PWDs in Cebu

CEBU CITY, July 30 (PIA) --A pharmaceutical company, AstraZeneca visited the Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center (AVRC II) in barangay Labangon, Cebu City to interact with the center's 50 PWDs in a social interaction activity conducted by its medical representatives and managers.


The activity aimed to provide AstraZeneca’s staff the understanding of the plight of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) by way of simulation activities as wells as promotion of the center’s programs and services. READ MORE

National Nutrition Council-7 called on its partners to help formulate communication plans to raise public awareness on the 2012 Nutritional Guidelines for Filipinos. In 2012, the FNRI-DOST initiated the revision of the 2000 NGF to keep up with the changes in the nutrition situation in the country.


Disaster preparedness summit in Central Visayas kicks off

CEBU CITY, July 31 (PIA) -- The three-day Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Summit in Central Visayas kicked off today with participants of more than 700 officials from local government units (LGUs) in the region.

DENR-7 to owners of confiscated birds: “Show us proof of ownership"

CEBU CITY, Aug. 8 (PIA) -- Following a raid that yielded more than 100 birds of various species, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-7 (DENR) told owners of said birds to produce proof of ownership.


DENR-7 has posted their notice seeking proof of ownership along Magallanes Street, Cebu City to owners of the assorted species of birds that were confiscated recently, said Dr. Eddie Llamedo, DENR-7 Information Officer. READ MORE

DSWD-7 intensifies fight against human trafficking

CEBU CITY, Aug. 2 (PIA) -- The amendment of Republic Act 9208 on Human Trafficking to Republic Act 10364 popularly known as Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act paves the way to intensify protection of the victims.


“The new law gives victim-survivors more strength to stand on their rights and make the government’s fight against human trafficking more effective," said Rosemarie Salazar, DSWD’s Focal Person on Women and Family. READ MORE

DOST seeks RICE 2013 applicants

DOST 7 is calling on inventors, makers, designers, and creative researchers to submit entries for the Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits (RICE) 2013.


Deadline of submission of entries is on AUG 30.


One (1) qualifier per category will be chosen to represent the National Invention Contest and Exhibition (NICE). Each regional qualifier shall receive cash incentives, and certificate of recognition.
