Third and Fourth Grade
Happy New Year 2018! Welcome Back
And on we go.
Yes we can still say this to all you meet until Monday, January 8. After the Presentation of the Lord then we begin...Ordinary Time. But it now means more, because we have to prepare for his death and resurrection.
(Lent will begin next month, Ash Wednesday is February 14)
This week we looked at the readings for this Friday school mass. Saint John Neumann is considered as the founder of Catholic Schools here in the United States. He helped organize Catholic schools in his diocese.
Math is a review of mean, mode, median, and range. Then I even quizzed the children on lessons from the beginning of the year.
We will spend more time on Fractions, reviewing the process of adding or subtracting them.
3rd Grade will begin with the paperback book Sideways stories from Wayside School by Louis Sachar. The chidren seemed to enjoy the last book. I am sure they will enjoy this one too! They will have their Spelling test next week Friday, January 12. It is the same list right before the Christmas break. We did not get a chance to take the test then.
4th Grade will read My SIDE of the Mountain . It is a story about survival in the mountains and how a young man discovers a side of himself he never knew existed.
Their Spelling test will be on January 19.
Unfortunately there will be no tutoring this week. We will pick it up next week.
From the Desk of Mr. Ivan:
The 3rd Grade will be having their Vocabulary quiz on Friday, January 19.
4th Grade received their words today so they will have their Vocabulary quiz next Friday, January 12.
