Admin Update
I hope everyone has successfully endured our late April snowfall! Good news, this week we are back in the 50s and 60s. Hopefully, the rain will hold off for our morning Running Club :-) This week please consider contributing to Home & School's efforts to celebrate teacher appreciation week which is just around the corner May 6th - 10th (see details below). Be sure to see our announcements and calendar as the end of the year can be a busy time!
Help Make This Year's Teacher Appreciation Week A Success!
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6-10 and we have some big plans to celebrate our amazing teachers!
Monday, May 6th: Breakfast buffet for our teachers.
Tuesday, May 7th: Candy display for teachers to select their favorite “sweet tooth” item to enjoy! (partial donation from Walgreens)
Wednesday, May 8th: Snack Attack! Savory snacks and drinks for teachers
Thursday, May 9th: Scrumptious cookie tray for teachers
Friday, May 10th: We’ll wrap the week up with a pizza and salad lunch for the teachers from Paisans Restaurant.
We are asking families to donate a box of K-Cups to help build up our teachers’ coffee supply! Please send a box of your favorite K-Cups to school with your child the week of April 29th; we will have a box in the front lobby to collect any donations.
Also, we could use help with treats for our teacher breakfast on Monday, May 6th. Please sign-up to bring an item using this link (baked or store-bought is fine; items must be dropped off by 8 a.m. on 5/6. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0C49ABAC2FA5FB6-teacher1

Attention All 5th Grade Parents: Please sign-up to bring a dish and help serve lunch to our wonderful Steeple Run staff on Friday, May 3rd. This annual luncheon offers all 5th-grade parents the opportunity to say thank you to the teachers and administrators who have helped our children during their elementary school years. And since it's a half-day of school, 5th-grade students are also invited to participate (a parent must also be in attendance – no exceptions.) We know there is a lot going on this day, but this lunch does not conflict with the Endurance Challenge - parents can do both! Use the following link to sign-up by April 26th: https://perfectpotluck.com/meals.php?t=RYXQ8600 Contact Jen Manieson (jlmanieson5@gmail.com) or Tracey Burkland (tburkland08@gmail.com) with any questions.
CHUCK E. CHEESE’S BENEFIT - MAY 10TH
Please join us on Friday, May 10th for fun, food and games with your Steeple Run friends at Chuck E. Cheese’s (506 S Rt. 59 Naperville, IL). Just mention at the register that you are there for the Steeple Run Elementary Home & School benefit, and Chuck E. Cheese’s will donate up to 20% of your purchase back to Home & School. Hope to see you there!
2019-2020 School Supplies
School Supply order forms have been sent home via backpack mail. If you wish to order a supply kit from Home & School (H&S), please return your order form and payment by Wednesday, May 24th. This is a great way to avoid the back to school crowds and save the amount of sales tax you would be charged at a retail store. Supply Kits will be in your student’s classroom on the first day of school.
If you choose to shop on your own for your school supplies and have a student going into grade(s) 3-5, you must purchase an assignment notebook from H&S prior to the end of this school year as indicated on the order form. Carlson’s will not sell the assignment notebook.
Contact Michele Baum at michele_baum19@yahoo.com or 630.881.0109 with any questions regarding school supplies.
Steeple Run Family Fun Run & Teacher Retirement Celebration - Save the Date
Our 3rd Annual Steeple Run Family Fun Run will take place on Friday, May 17th. During this year’s Fun Run, we will also be celebrating the retirement of some of our favorite Steeple Run staff. Join us in wishing a happy retirement to Ms. Clark, Ms. Manade, Ms. Winder, Ms. Oliver and Ms. Bazzetta! Keep an eye on backpack mail for more info on this great family event!
Committee Chairs for 2019-2020 School Year
We still have several chairperson openings on committees for the 2019-2020 school year! Getting involved with Home & School is a great way to participate in our school community! We have a variety of open roles that accommodate both working parents and those with daytime availability. Chairperson sounds formal...but it isn't! All of the materials from prior years are available to you, so you won't be starting from scratch. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Nicole Baugh at steeplerunhands@gmail.com.
Direct Donation Drive Extended!
The Direct Donation Drive to support Home & School has been extended! If you have not already done so, please consider donating to your Home & School! This is an easy way for you to financially support programming that directly impacts your students at Steeple Run, such as assemblies, birthday books and field trips. Please see our flyer here with more information on this program, as well as instructions on how to donate. Please make checks payable to Steeple Run Home & School. We appreciate your support!
