Snacks for Scholars

With end of year testing about to begin, one thing that our students look forward to is a healthy snack and mints! If you are able, we are collecting snacks to give our students during testing break times. We would love granola bars, snack size packages of goldfish crackers or pretzels, and mints. Just drop off to the office and we will disperse to students. Thank you!

Extended Learning Information!

Letters will be coming home to students who are invited to participate in extended learning opportunities. The invites are based on acadmic data and teacher input. Initial letters were sent out on Friday. As more seats become available, additional letters will be sent. Please call the elementary office if you have any questions. Thanks!

Important- Your Help Needed

Although breakfast and lunch are currently free for all students as a result of a USDA grant, it is vitally important that families complete the Free/Reduced lunch application. Building and district-level free and reduced lunch numbers are used by the federal government to determine funding which ultimately impacts staffing. All families are encouraged to complete the Free/Reduced lunch application (linked below) to see if they qualify. If you prefer a paper application, please let me know and one will be sent home with your child.

Some helpful reminders...

  • Please send any changes in transportation with your child in the morning, if possible. This gives the teachers an opportunity to remind your child, if appropriate.
  • Remind your child of any changes.
  • Keep your pick up number displayed in your car until your child comes to your vehicle. This assists our helpers in getting your child to your car as quickly and safely as possible.
  • Continue to pull all the way forward. This helps tremendously in getting all the cars through the line quickly and safely.

Emmons Lake Community Kindness! Keep it going!

SCRIP

The Scrip program provides another great way to earn extra cash for our school AND extra cash for your family! You simply purchase the Scrip gift cards at face value and use them toward purchases at stores where you normally shop. The retailers donate a portion of that money back to our school. 50% of the profit goes to the PTO and the other 50% is given to you quarterly by check or you can donate back to the school. Scrip can be ordered online at www.shopwithscrip.com; gift cards can be printed from your home printer and you can reload gift cards instantly, also. The Emmons Lake enrollment code is: FF864CE71895.

If you have any questions, please contact Andrea McKenna at andreamckenna6@gmail.com.

Happy Shopping!

DIRECT YOUR DOLLARS - SpartanNash Receipts

Emmons Lake has the opportunity to earn $1000 from SpartanNash, simply by shopping at any local company-owned store, including Family Fare Supermarkets, D&W Fresh Markets and Hardings Grocery and sending the receipt to school! This is VERY helpful, especially this year because we are unable to have any fundraisers thus far and we didn't have any at the end of last year!! Through the “Direct Your Dollars” program, we can turn eligible receipts into cash for our school! Just send your receipts to school with your child to give to his/her teacher. For every $150,000 in receipts we collect, we will earn a $1,000 donation from SpartanNash. We do need original receipts, so no photocopies. Start sending in those receipts!! We’ll collect them throughout the year. With your support – and your receipts – we’ll be raising money for our school. It’s easy to do!!!!

Message from the Principal...

Another amazing week at Emmons! It is crazy to think that we are already in the middle of April! It seems as if August was just here!

As we continue to work hard to keep all students in school face to face, we want to take a moment to say thank you for your help. While we understand the requirements, changes, and updates can be frustrating and tiring, we are committed to doing whatever we can to keep our students in school Thank you for completing the daily health screener, calling the office , monitoring symptoms, and working with our health/safety team. Also, if you get a chance, please let them know what a great job they are doing. It has been busy, challenging, and overwhelming at times. We are grateful for the team and all of your efforts! Again, we are so thankful for all you have done and continue to do for all our students, staff, and families at Emmons.

You will see the schedule above for state assessessments. We are fully confident that, despite the challenges of this year, our students are ready to rock these. To help support your child, ensuring a good night's sleep, healthy breakfast, and simply encouraging them to do their best is all you need to do. You have great kids. They are smart, kind, and thoughtful. There isn't any assessment in the world that will fully capture how amazing your child is. This is one snapshot or one piece to the puzzle. While the information on these assessments can give us some insight, we know that each child is so much more than a number on a piece of paper. At Emmons, we will continue to meet every child where they are, providing excellent education, and working collectively to ensure educational excellence for every child, every day. Thank you for being part of that effort!

As always, if you have any questions, thoughts, or feedback, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Grateful to Serve With You,

Mrs. Schultz
