Blue Jay Line-Up
Critical information for the West End week to come!
TCAP Testing Schedule
The Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP) assessments, also known as TNReady, will be administered between April 21 and May 14 to students in grades 3 through 8 and in selected high school courses.
All TCAP assessments this year, as required by the State of Tennessee, are paper and pencil tests that must be administered within the school building. Below is our West End Specific Testing calendar. It will also be sent home with in-person students, mailed to virtual students, and included in future callouts. We will test most students from April 21st to April 27th.
Specific groupings and times for tests are shared below.
If you or your family have questions or concerns regarding testing at West End, please reach out to Mr. Stephens at James.StephensIII@mnps.org.
Sincerely,
West End Administration
MNPS Computers
If a student is withdrawing from the district, the MNPS issued laptop, charger, and should be returned to the building before the end of the year. There will be an announcement in May about times and procedures for this.
Nice Tips from Nurse Tabitha
There are busy days ahead next week with TN Ready testing is happening. Be sure that you are taking good care of yourself with daily healthy habits. You hear a lot about how important it is to eat well and exercise, however, did you ever stop to ask WHY?
A healthy habit is any behavior that improves your physical, mental, and emotional health. DID YOU KNOW these habits improve your overall well-being and cause you to feel SMART.
As well as Improving your Mood, Combating Illness, and Boosting Energy.
I know life can get busy and we can forget to practice self-care so I made you a checklist:
· Eat Breakfast
· Drink plenty of water/fluids (♦30-40 ounces a day♦)
· Minimum of 30 minutes of physical activity
· Do something fun that makes you happy for 1 hour
· Good personal/hand hygiene
· Get plenty of sleep (8-10 hours)
Remember taking care of health is our most important job and effects everything else.
Because some of the symptoms of COVID-19 and seasonal allergies are similar, it may be difficult to tell the difference between them, and you may need to get a test to confirm your diagnosis
I have found some helpful tips to minimize those seasonal allergy flares:
· Keep windows closed during peak pollen seasons to limit indoor exposure.
· Vacuum often to reduce dust mites, pet dander, or pollen that is tracked indoors. Do not line dry your clothes outdoors
· Wipe down your pets when they come inside because they carry pollen on their fur.
· Avoid peak pollen hours
· On an average day, pollen counts rise during the morning, peak about midday, and then gradually fall. So, the lowest pollen counts are usually before dawn and in the late afternoon to early evening
· Take a shower before bed or change clothes once finished with outdoor play.
Because Covid and seasonal allergies share so many common symptoms, it can be impossible to differentiate between the two. A Covid test by PCR may be required.
If you have any questions, please reach out to me.
Thanks,
