Parents,


I hope that you had a wonderful and relaxing summer. As you can see it has been quite the busy place with all of the new painting, flooring, and other surprises! We are eagerly expecting your visit either on Monday or Tuesday for Meet the Teacher Night and the first day of school on August 4 at 7:55am. In the meantime, please see important reminders and dates below as we begin the new school year:


-Your student(s) assigned teacher will be available on Friday, July 30 on your IC Parent Portal. If you do not have access to the IC Parent Portal please contact the school office for assistance.


-Class lists will also be posted in the main hall on Monday and Tuesday nights. They will be posted by student number, so please ensure you know your child's student number. If not, please contact the office


-Kindergarten and Preschool parents are welcome to escort their children to the classroom on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday next week. We only request that you leave promptly at the 8:10 bell when announcements begin. After those dates we ask that you utilize Harris drop off procedures in the front of the school building.


-Morning drop off of students will begin at 7:45 and will end promptly at 7:55, arrival after that time, students will need to enter the front office. There is no recess before school as students will enter the school building directly. After 8:10 parents will need to sign in their students as they are considered tardy.


-Parents that need special accommodations for student drop off AND pick up are to drive to the front of the line (near the office) and Harris personnel will escort your student from the curb to their classroom. For those parents that choose to park their vehicle in lieu of curbside drop off at the front of the school; they will need to escort their child through the parking lot to the drop off at the front of the school where Harris personnel will meet your child. We cannot escort children from the parking lot to the building due to safety concerns.


-Please DO NOT use the Handicap spaces in the parking lot unless you have a plate or sticker. Every year this seems to be a major issue in the school parking lot because unauthorized vehicles park in those designated areas even for just a second. Please, lets make it a goal this year to park correctly and make our parking lot a safe place for all!


In closing, I look forward to seeing everyone and I encourage you to be a part of the Harris team. Please reach out to your teachers for volunteer opportunities inside and outside the classroom as well as our fabulous and dedicated PTSO. We always need help and would love to see you at a monthly meeting or joining the team! Please see their table in the main hallway at Meet the Teacher Night.

Harris Parent Representative Needed

We are in need of a parent representative from Harris Elementary to attend the Superintendent's Council meetings for 21/22 school year. The Wednesday meetings will be held on August 18, November 17, February 9, and April 20 at Community Education from 10:30-noon. In order to ensure that we can communicate with families regarding their student, or in case of an emergency, it is essential that families keep their emergency contact information up to date in their Infinite Campus account.
