6th Grade Band:
Students are taking their first playing quiz this week. These quizzes are to be done at home if at all possible. The students set up Google Sites which will be used as digital portfolios to track their progress from 6th grade all the way until 12th grade. If the students need a refresher on how to record and submit their quiz, or how to make a website if it somehow got deleted, there is a YouTube video of how to make the site on Google Classroom.
Students should be practicing at home as much as possible. We are going to start preparing for our Winter Concert which will take place on Tuesday, December 19. The concert will be split into two parts and more information will come out as it becomes available as far as times are concerned.
The dress for the December concert is the same at it was for the concert last week. Concert black and white. Please make arrangements so your child has clothes that meet the expected dress. If you have any problems getting these clothes please feel free to get in contact with me and I will help you!
Cherry dale orders will be delivered on November 16. If your child sold a lot of Cherry dale merchandise please make plans to come to the middle school after school and pick up their orders in the cafeteria.

HORNET SINGERS:
This week we were able to watch the video recording of our concert. This led to some outstanding discussion about our performance, as well as audience and performer concert etiquette. I know you will be as proud of them as I was when they eloquently expressed their reactions to hearing their performance, expressing support for all choir members, and when discussing comments and behavior they noticed during and immediately following the performance. These young people embody the FMS #choosekind ideology.
We have been working on two of our December concert selections: "in This Very Room," and "Carol of the Bells."
If your student does not have a choir polo shirt, they may be purchased from Dr. Moebes for $13 for sizes S-XL. XXL available for $15. The fee may be paid in full, or in smaller payments as needed.
HORNET PRIDE:
This choir was also able to watch the concert video, discuss our performance, and support each other in sharing our observations. Again, these young singers gave thoughtful reactions to our first performance as an ensemble, as well as discussing appropriate concert etiquette. Way to go, 7th grade!
We have begun working on two of our December concert selections: "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year," and " Carol of the Bells."
If you/your student does not have a choir polo shirt, they may be purchased from Dr. Moebes for $13 for sizes S-XL. XXL available for $15. The fee may be paid in full, or in smaller payments as needed. You will receive a receipt for any payments made.
HARMONY HORNETS:
Wow! This a motivated group of young singers! They have received the songs for the December concert! I'm truly impressed with the dedication and enthusiasm in this group! Thank you for the hard work, singers! Thank you, parents and family members, for encouraging and allowing them to sing!!!
Music 6:
Music 6 students have completed their Artist Presentation research and sharing! We have enjoyed presentations about a variety of artists including Beethoven, Lil Uzi Vert, Taylor Swift, Lindsey Stirling, and Michael Jackson. It is always fun to learn more about the personal style and music preferences of my students, and they benefit from learning about artists their peers enjoy. Students practice research skills along the way!
Check out the FlipGrid video responses at the link below!
ARTS ALIVE 8:
The drama is reaching new levels as our student-written production continues to be written. The creativity in this group is truly inspiring! May the adventure continue, full steam ahead!
Please make sure to join us for our December 18th, at 7pm at FHS Allbritton Theatre!

News From The Art Room
The New Sixth Graders are rocking it! They have so far been exceeding the expectations, and we started our first real project this week, they will continue with their line projects for the next couple weeks, and learning shading techniques and value.
Seventh Grade will be wrapping up their Graffiti walls next week, and these turned out fantastic. In the coming days we will be shifting into printmaking and a couple other projects that deal with how we see things. At this stage because classes are larger we will have two to three projects going simultaneously, as we will have shifts on print day, and we need to keep the process going and have something we are working on, on the side.
This is going to take a lot of discipline and structure in the classroom so parents please remind students, to be following school wide, as well as classroom expectations.
Eighth Grade is continuing work on their storybooks, and we will be writing artist statements for the process.
As always, if there are any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate in contacting me.
Artfully yours,
Mr Chapman

Ms. Doering

The FMS Thrive Hive
The Fulton Middle School Thrive Hive will open for business on Monday, August 21st. The store will be open 7:30 to 7:45 each morning. If students aren't able to shop then they can email Mrs. Horstmeier @ shortmeier@fulton58.org or Mrs. Yates @ hyates@fulton58.org for an appointment to shop.
The Thrive Hive is designed to allow students to use their Hornet Bucks--earned through the Positive Behavior Support Program--to purchase items from the store. The Thrive Hive was created to help the needs of the FMS Student Community.
Items currently needed for the store are:
Any age appropriate toys, DVD's for the holidays.
As we gear up for winter: Hats, gloves, scarves, and coats.
Snack items: Slim jims, and pop tarts.
Other needs are ear buds and water bottles.
We will be gearing up for the holiday season so baskets to make gift packages for students to purchase would be great.
All other items are appreciated as well.
If you would like to donate, please call Fulton Middle School at 573-590-8200.
