PSSA Testing

PSSA Testing will begin this week for Grades 3-5. All assessments will be given in the morning and should be completed by lunchtime. Teachers and students have been working hard in their classrooms since school began in August. We are confident that our kiddos are well-prepared and ready to show all that they have learned this year.

Here are some ways you can help us to be at our best with the PSSA:

  1. Ensure that your children get a proper night’s rest.

  2. Provide your students with a nutritious and hearty breakfast to start their day to help them stay focused.

  3. Help your children dress in comfortable clothing for the day.

  4. Arrive to school on time (supervision is available on the blacktop beginning at 8:20AM)

  5. Maintain low key activity in the evenings throughout the testing weeks.

  6. Promote positive thinking about doing the best work possible! Testing can be stressful, and we want to make sure that the children feel confident, are relaxed, and that we want them to do their best. Your encouragement at home will help us here at school.

  7. Send in a healthy snack for the children to have during each of their scheduled testing sessions.

Please remember that no pre-approved absences will be granted for students in Grades 3-5 during this time. If you have specific questions regarding PSSA Testing at Hoover, please contact the main office.

Taste of Lebo

It’s a great family event. Tickets are limited and you don't want to miss this "tasty" event!! Order now by clicking the link below:

Author Visit

Author and illustrator, Matt Tavares, will be visiting Hoover on Wednesday, May 4th! You are invited to pre-order a personalized, autographed copy of one of his books. (Hoover school receives a Barnes and Noble gift card for 20% of all orders!) Orders are due by April 15th - your child should have received a yellow order form with book descriptions and a short biography on Mr. Tavares. Please contact Ms. Mader with questions - cmader@mtlsd.net.

*Tavares will present to K-2 students at 1:00 p.m. AM Kindergarten students are invited to return for the visit. Look for a permission slip that will be sent home with your AM Kindergarten student.

Kindergarten Registration Continues

Kindergarten Registration for the 2016-2017 school year is currently open throughout the Mt. Lebanon School District. Children who reach the age of five before September 8th are eligible to enter Kindergarten in the fall. If you have a child or know of a neighbor who is eligible for Kindergarten, please stop by the main office to pick up a registration packet.

This is a wonderful time of the year as we welcome many children into the Mt. Lebanon Elementary Community and begin our planning for a new school year. Additional details about our Kindergarten program can be found on the district's website, or by clicking HERE.
