A peek at our learning this week....
This week our class will be reading stories about different kinds of pets and how to care for them. Children will learn about grooming, feeding, walking, and caring for pets.
Here are some activities that you can do with your child to help reinforce the skills we will be practicing.
Word Workout
- Vocabulary: responsibility, train Talk about the responsibilities associated with caring for pets, as well as how people train pets.
- My Words to Know
High-Frequency Words: they, of Think of short sentences that include they and of and write them down. Have your child point to each word and read each sentence aloud. Ask your child to underline the words they and of.
Category Words: pets Play a game of “Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down.” Ask your child to show thumbs up if what you say is true, and to show thumbs down if what you say is not true. For example, A dog can be a pet. (thumbs up)
Phonics: g, w Help your child think of words with the letter g and the letter w, such as get, hug, wag, and wet.

CAN WE CATCH A LEPRECHAUN?
Leprechaun Trap
In the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day, we are going to attempt to trap a leprechaun in our classroom. I am asking you to work with your child to design a trap for Friday, March 15th. First test your trap the evening before to see how well it works, then have your child bring the trap to school on Friday and we will try to trap him over the weekend. Of course, if you trap the leprechaun at home, please have your child bring it to school
Thank you and Have FUN!
A note from Ms. Berube
The children have been working so hard and it is showing. I can also tell that practice is going in at home with sight words and letter sounds! Keep up the great work!
Have a great week!
A note from Mrs. Maillet
I can't wait to see the leprechaun traps that your children come up with. Hoping to catch that tricky guy with one of their traps over the weekend. Maybe we will find a little leprechaun Monday morning when we come in to school!
Keep practicing sight words, letter and sounds, and reading at home with your child. They are making incredible gains and I am so proud of them!
A note from Mrs. Webb
I ordered the Scholastic book orders Friday. The books should be in soon!
We will try to catch that mischievous leprechaun over the weekend. Before we leave school on Friday, we will set all of the leprechaun traps that come to school on Friday! Will the leprechaun be caught by our clever kindergarteners and their trap???
Have a great week! Enjoy the warmer weather and the extra day light!
