January Update

Winter Testing is Upon Us

It is that time again and we will begin our winter testing sessions next week Monday, January 11. The 6th and 7th grade students will take the MAP, while our 8th grade students participate in the Aspire Interim testing. Students will take the same subject areas that they did in fall. This will allow us to dig into our data and see how students are growing with teaching and learning amidst the COVID pandemic. We will then work with teachers to respond in their instruction to the needs of the students based on their performance.

We will begin with Math testing in all grade levels on Monday, January 11. We will then have students take the reading and ELA (8th grade only) tests in the following days. We will complete all testing during the week of January 11 and do makeup testing as necessary.

We want to take a moment to congratulate our most recent students of the month. These students have stood out for their leadership, dedication to academics, and for following the Faclon Way of being respectful, responsible, safe, and ready to learn. Way to go!!!

Student materials for virtual students

We know that there have been many reasons this school year that students have to switch to virtual learning abruptly. Our staff is working hard to meet the needs of all students and we ask that you give teachers 48 hours to get materials ready for students. We appreciate all the patience and support our families have given us this year. The most important item that a student needs is their Chromebook, which allows them to attend and participate in class immediately.

As a reminder for our students and parents who are virtual, you can pick up materials in our main entrance vestibule on Fridays. If you want to check to see if there are materials in your student's file prior to coming, please call Mrs. Nicolet in our office at 262-376-5818.

End of 1st Semester - January 22, 2021

It is hard to believe, but the end of first semester is almost here! The last day of first semester is January 22. Please check with your student to make sure they are taking care of any missing work and communicating with their teachers so they finish strong. As a reminder, we switched to a semester grading period this year at JLMS to align with the elementary and high school level. We will be using semester grades in the calculation of student grade point averages. If you are concerned about your student's performance in any class, please connect with the teacher to identify and create a plan for your student to be successful.
