Week of 8/18/19

Miller's Message

Greetings Longhorn Nation!

We are starting Week 2 of the school year and students should be in a routine. Tardies will start to count on Wednesday, August 21, 2019. Our counselors are working diligently to balance classes and fix scheduling errors. Please be patient as we work through this process this week.

It is imperative that scholars arrive to school on time each day. Doors to the building open at 7:45 AM. The tardy bell rings at 8:15 AM. Scholars who are persistently late will receive consequences.

We will focus on the convergence of four elements; Relationships, Communication, Parental Involvement, and Shared Identity. My leadership this year will focus on these four elements as they apply to school improvement. Together, we will make a great school even better! The school mantra for the year will be " No Excuses No Alibi". We will not allow excuses to hinder our success in Cedar Hill. Your student WILL be challenged each day to perform to the best of their ability.

This year promises to be full of great accomplishments and exciting progress for our scholars and our school. If you have any questions related to school policy and procedures, schedules, etc., please feel free to contact the main office at 469-272-2000, check our school website or email me at jason.miller@chisd.net. You may also stay abreast to what is happening at CHHS via twitter at @Mr_Miller1911 and @Cedar_Hill_HS. Let’s make this school year the best!

Car Drop Off

With the addition of over 200 scholars to CHHS, we are aware that the morning drop-off has become problematic. We are researching some different options and will announce them later this week.

Bow Tie Tuesday

We are starting BOW TIE TUESDAY at Cedar Hill HS. The concept of Bow Tie Tuesday was originally created in an effort to inspire school spirit, increase morale and build team spirit among staff and students. Wear your bow tie every Tuesday! Encourage your scholar to wear them…. Let's build the Cedar Hill community together.

Greetings Longhorn Family,

We are the 2019-2020 Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) and we would like to welcome you back to an exciting new year. We are extremely excited to serve you and look forward to working very closely with you this year. Our theme this year is "Servant Leadership" and our mission is to make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.

We invite you and your entire family to join PTSA. The number one reason to join the Parent Teacher Student Association is to benefit your child by getting connected, discovering great resources, tapping into a network, having a safe place to express your concerns, and be a role model. But wait...that's not ALL! There are other benefits available at Membership Benefits for dues paying PTAs and its members. Catch the Early Bird Membership Special now through August 31 for only $5! This special is available to ALL parents, staff, and students for a limited time.

Memberships will be sold at various events on campus. Don't miss out on joining at the early bird price! If you have any questions, please reach out to the PTA at longhornptsa@gmail.com. We do accept credit cards. Don't delay, join PTSA today.
