Mrs. Redmon
Current Studies and Explorations
In Mrs. Redmons' class, fourth grade gifted students are beginning a study of robotics. We are beginning by learning all about robots and their uses in today's world (as well as possibilities for the future!) Students will build and program Mindstorm robots using LEGO (c) bricks. Students will use critical thinking and problem solving to actively build their understanding of programming and coding using a kid-friendly, icon-based software. Later, learners will plan, build, and test their own original robot and program designs. Mrs. Redmon will be sharing our journey with you through our student portfolios! (see below). I will continue to share our progress and our latest news with you!
a message from Mrs. Redmon
I am so honored to be a part of your child's education this year. I will be working with your child on Tuesdays. I am super excited to continue to teach gifted enrichment. I started in February of last school year & am excited to continue investing in your students. So far this year we are having a blast! This week you should receive a note home about students' digital portfolios. These portfolios will be our place for collecting artifacts of what we do in class and a great way for you to easily view what your child is up to throughout the year. Please complete and return the digital portfolio permission form as soon as possible and have your child return the note to his or her homeroom teacher. Parents, I sent each of you an e-mail. If you did not receive an e-mail from me, this means I don't have your correct and most current e-mail address on file! Please contact me at lisa.redmon@ zacharyschools.org so that I can add you to my list. If you do not wish to receive e-mail communication about your child and what we are doing in class, please let me know. Also, I would be thrilled to hear from you! If you ever have questions or concerns please feel welcome to email me.
