AVID Freshmen Question the Effects of Texting
Immersed in Language through Desmos
This was a great way for her to gauge her students’ level of comprehension on the vocabulary terms they just learned. If students are able to use vocabulary to be able to qualify images and items, they need to have a command of the language before asking questions. Ms. Stein would pause the activity to allow students to address failed games by answering questions like: “How should the questions have been worded to allow for the correct guess?” or “Could there have been less questions asked to get to the correct answer?” Ms. Stein stated: “By incorporating vocabulary in this simple game, students had to use the terms properly, and I was quickly able to assess their level of understanding.”

P.E. Focuses on the Benefits of Participating in Team Sports
Physical Education students are wrapping up our third team sport unit. Over the last 4 weeks, students were introduced to the team sport of Volleyball. They have been exposed to the skills, rules of the game and then put in teams where they will compete against each other. We hope that participating in these sports helps our students build social and teamwork skills that they can use through their years here at FHS. GO KNIGHTS!!

Max Love Club
Max Love is a club on campus that raises money for childhood cancer organizations. The club was started by Max’s parents, who fundraised for research following their son’s diagnosis with a brain tumor. The purpose of Max Love is to send care packages, and prepare lists of foods, tips, and tricks for people going through the same rigorous treatment that Max has survived. Max Love club was started on campus to raise awareness and raise money for the Max Love organization. President Kat Phillips (senior) has been actively involved in Max Love since her sophomore year. Co-president Megan Smyth (senior) has been participating in the club since freshman year.
Towards the end of the school year, Max Love club is hosting an event at Foothill that will help fundraise money for Max and the club.
