Mashburn Elementary
The Big 20
First through fifth grade teachers will be giving the Big 20 math assessment. To do this, log in to SchoolCity via ClassLink. These assessments can be found under the “district” tab. Below are the names of each grade level’s assessment.
· FCS G1 Big 20 Basic Math Skills Assessment
· FCS G2 Big 20 Basic Math Skills Assessment
· FCS G3 Big 20 Basic Math Skills Assessment
· FCS G4 Big 20 Basic Math Skills Assessment
· FCS G5 Big 20 Basic Math Skills Assessment
Each assessment features 20 items, and should take between 10 and 30 minutes to administer online. Please allow students to use scratch paper.
Action Item:
Give the Big 20 to all first through fifth grade students by May 18th. Please let Andrea or Carol Ann know if you have any questions or need help getting your students on to School City!
International Day
International Day will be on Friday, May 18th, during the school day. This will be a day to celebrate all the cultures that make Mashburn special! Please view this form with more information, including schedules:
Grade Level Chairs received a packet of fun Multicultural Activities that you can choose to complete throughout the day.
From 9:00-11:55, teachers please sign-up for two stations; one of them must be the Cafeteria or the Media Center. The stations include: Music, Art, Storytelling, Student Performances, Learning a game or dance, or a Technology Activity. Teachers will need to stay with their classes during the stations.

If you did not recieve an email with your contract link log into Classlink--Click on Soft Docs (purple icon_--check inbox-sign name and date--click Accept.
Action Item:
Sign your contracts electronically through Softdocs/Etrieve and use the how to video as your guide by May 14th. Please let Carol Ann know ASAP if you are having problems with this.
EOY Movies
Kizoa is a free slideshow and collage maker. It has tons of extra features that allow you to add transitions, effects, text, music, animations, etc. In a hurry? No problem. Upload your photos and let Kizoa to randomly select the transitions that will be played between your photos to create a slideshow in 3 clicks. You can also convert your photo slideshow into video to share it on Youtube.
PhotoSnack is a free photo slideshow maker that is easy to use. To create a slideshow, first you can choose to upload photos from 6 different sources: your computer, Facebook, Flickr, Picasa, Photobucket, SmugMug or Instagram. Then, customize your slideshow by choosing 1 of the 9 free templates. You can also add background music into the slideshow. Upload your own audio file or pick 1 out of the 20 sound tracks available for free.
PhotoPeach: 3 quick steps are required to make a slideshow instantly with PhotoPeach: Upload & arrange your images, Choose title & music, and Share your show or embed it in your blog/website. Similar to PhotoSnack, it doesn’t have many advanced features, which is ideal if you want to create simple slideshows without some fancy effects or transitions.

Try out some of these online movie makers. Carol Ann may not be able to assist due to the crazy schedule of May so please plan ahead.
EIP Updates
We just wanted everyone to know what EIP services will look like for the month of May so you can plan ahead. Embrace the craziness of May!
We will have EIP as normal Monday-Wednesday of THIS week. We will NOT have EIP Thursday and Friday due to EIP training and Universal Screening.
The following week: (May 7th-11th) there will be no EIP classes due to promotion/retention, Universal Screening, and Field Day.
The week of May 14th -18th we will have EIP as normal (Mon.- Thurs.) and this will be our last week of EIP.
EIP’s last day is Thursday, May 17th.
Also, we have a favor to ask of you…if you know of days your classes will need to cancel EIP for various reasons such as field trips, parties, etc… PLEASE, PLEASE let us know as soon as you can. We are trying to “map out” where we will end our interventions for this year and it really helps with the planning. Thanks so much!

Instructional Technology Summer Professional Learning
The Instructional Technology department will offer many training classes this summer. Topics will range from a SchoolCity Deep Dive, to Google Certified Educator Level 1, to Aspiring ITS, and finally Basic Computer Skills. As we prepare for the end of another school year Forsyth County Food Services will no longer allow negative charges to student accounts effective after meal service on Tuesday, May 1st 2018.
To ensure your child can continue to enjoy school meals or to clear your student’s account of any negative balances, please send a payment, (cash or check) to the school, or visit WWW.MyPaymentsPlus.com, to make a payment online. This website is a convenient way to make payments and monitor your child's account balance.

Summer Professional Learning
In an effort to streamline communication and ease of access, we have compiled all of the Teaching and Learning summer sessions in one location. Click here to view the webpage. Sessions with a register button are open to all teachers. Sessions without the register option are intended for specific teachers and are invitation only. Attention Classified Staff
To assist office staff and paraprofessionals in their use of Google and Microsoft products, the instructional technology department will be offering both Google and Microsoft Training this summer. The trainings will be two day sessions for two hours each day.
§ The Google training will offer beginning level skills within Google Drive, Docs, Sheets and Forms. Skills will include the basics such as how to share and access files, organizational tips, collaboration with peers, how to survey others and analyze data collected.
§ The Microsoft training will offer beginning level skills for Outlook, Word, and Excel. Skills will include organizing your Outlook folders, finding sent emails, creating contacts, creating appointments, formatting a document, using shortcuts, saving in different formats, creating tables, and much more.
