Every Friday is SHES Spirit Day: Wear SHE or House colors;
April 22nd thru April 26th: Ga Milestones Social Studies and Science assessments for 5th graders; Make up assessments occur each afternoon for 5th and/or 3rd graders, who missed any content assessment during the week of April 15th; Testing begins promptly at 8 am (See GaM message below for details)
April 22nd thru April 26th: National Professional Assistants Appreciation Week; We love our PAs: Julie Pruitt, Carol Shenk, Kimberly Thompson, and Nancy Wroblewski!!
April 22nd thru April 26th: PTO/SGC Volunteer Appreciation Week; SHES is very lucky to have such wonderful community support and our PTO Volunteers and SGC members work behind the scenes to help organize/support SHES staff, students, and/or community events!!
April 26th: Rise Up will meet @ 2:30 in the SHE GYM
On Wed, April 24th, SHE staff invites any parent who has served as a PTO volunteer (in any event/capacity; (e.g., Room Rep, Watch D.O.G. Dad, PTO officer, SHE Business Partner, SGC member, etc.) to stop by the front office, from 7 am to 3 pm, for a yummy treat!! We LOVE and APPRECIATE our SHE community volunteers!!

April 30th: Spring Chorus Concert, 6 pm in Cafeteria
April 29th thru May 3rd: SHE Teacher Appreciation Week; Thank you, PTO members, for making our teachers feel appreciated and loved during this week; Please feel free to send a card to your teacher(s) just to say THANK YOU!!
May 6th thru 13th: Ga Milestones assessments for 4th grade: ELA and Math; Testing begins promptly at 8 am (See GaMs message below for details)
May 7th: School Governance Council Meeting at 7 am in the PTO workroom; All are welcome to attend; Agenda for May;
May 7th: Dr. Bearden holds her Principal Chat at 9 am and 6 pm in the PTO workroom; Open discussion and all are welcome to attend!
May 14th: Board member, Katie Reeves, will hold her community meeting @SHES media center at 9:30 am; All are invited to attend;

Summit Hill Elementary School Governance Council (SGC)
The purpose of the School Governance Council is to provide parents, school, staff, and community members with a leadership role in the management of the school.
The School Governance Council is a governing body that is representative
of the community and the school, but operates under the control and
management of the Board of Education. The Council is responsible for
making decisions regarding the strategic direction of the school including:
a.) Approve the school strategic plan and updates
b.) Approve the annual budget and annual resource allocations
c.) Manage the Request for Flexibility process
d.) Participate in hiring the principal (in case of a vacancy)
e.) Provide annual feedback on principal performance
SGC meetings are held the first Tuesday of every month @ 7 am in the PTO room. All are welcome to attend. After each meeting, minutes and agenda for the next month will be posted on the SHE website.

SHE Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO)
Summit Hill Elementary is very lucky to have such a wonderful community and the PTO offers monetary and volunteer support to keep our staff/students equipped with the best learning experiences possible. SHE loves our PTO support!! If you have not already done so, please consider joining the PTO. There are different levels of membership and every membership is vital to the PTO and its work.
