St. Columba Catholic School - News every Friday - 9/4/20

St. Columba Families,

What a great week of Online Learning for our K-8 students! I am so proud of our students' and parents' dedication to our Online Learning this week. It was great to walk into teachers classrooms and hear teaching and learning happening!

As we head into a nice, long Labor Day weekend, I am reminded of Jesus' words from the Gospel of Matthew. “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.” We have all been laboring these past 6 months, in a variety of ways. I know we all feel burdened for various reasons. But I hope we are all reassured knowing that we have God to provide us that rest and solace.

I know we are looking forward to returning to campus on Tuesday. I ask, as I did in the Reopening sessions yesterday, please be safe. Please limit your bubble as much as possible. As a school community, we have to take care of each other. If we want our school to remain open and for our students to be able to come on campus to learn, we have to take care of each other. That means limiting our travel and our exposure to people outside of our family, continuing to practice good safety measures like mask wearing and hand washing, and also keeping our kids at home if they are displaying symptoms.

Yesterday, I provided a lot of information in our sessions. If you were not able to attend, I have sent the recordings to your email. PLEASE REVIEW BEFORE TUESDAY!

Please join us for a Virtual Open House on Thursday, September 10th at 6pm. I will provide the zoom link and more information next week.

Finally, I ask that you are patient with us next week. Things will probably be a little bumpy, but please know we are doing our very best.

Have a great (and safe) long weekend!

WATER BOTTLE REQUIREMENT

Because the Drinking Fountains will not be allowed to be used for safety purposes, every student in K-8 needs to bring their own water bottle to school each day.

Next week, we will be installing two water bottle refill stations to help accommodate these requirements.

Drop-Off Procedures

Please be sure to review the Reopening Procedure Sessions that Mr. Amann hosted to be as prepared as possible for Drop-Off on Tuesday. Recordings of these sessions were emailed to all parents/guardians.

Please also be sure to complete the Pre-Health Screening before school (7pm-7am window). Links to the form are available on the school's website, in Schoolspeak under announcements, and in each child's Google Classroom.

Return of Chromebooks

If you have a student that is on campus, either for 3 days or 5 days, please ensure that any borrowed Chromebooks are brought to school on Tuesday.

We need to inventory them before passing them all out officially to our 3rd-8th graders.

If you have an Online Only student and do not have another device at home, you may keep the device you borrowed until your child returns to campus.

Uniform Flexibility

We recognize that many uniform pieces are currently back ordered. We will be lenient and flexible with all students and families about the uniform until the beginning of October.

If you have uniforms from last year, you are welcome to wear those if you do not have the new ones yet.

If you are new to the school, you can wear what you have, even if it is not the right uniform for that day. If not, you are welcome to wear something that is close to the actual uniform, such as a navy skirt, a solid polo, etc.

Save the Date: K-8 Picture Day

Our Kindergarten-8th Grade School Picture Day will be September 22nd.

If you are having your child stay online, please be sure to make some arrangements in the morning to bring your child in for pictures. After pictures, your child will go home.
