Message from our Principal
Sailor Families,
Our newsletter is always filled with a lot of great information that is both important and timely. We try to keep this as our main communication line from the school and let Seesaw be the main communication tool from classrooms. We are continuing to dig in and work hard at BH. Our Fall Fest this Saturday is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the hard work and also to connect as a Bay Harbor learning family. I look forward to seeing you there!
Update- Our apparel on-line store is just about complete. I will send out that information in the next day or two.
Enjoy the rest of your week and thank you for your continued trust and partnership.

FALL FEST INFO
Hello BH Sailor Families! Fall Fest is Saturday, Nov 12th from 11-3! We are so excited to see all of our hard work come together for this great event that supports our school.
Our silent auction will be on-site again this year and offers a twist … bid on any highlighted line on our bidders’ sheets, and you’ll be automatically entered to win one of 2 grand prizes:
1. $200 Gift Card to Lodge Kohler
2. Electric Scooter
There will be TWO waves: the first one will run from 11:00am to 12:30pm and the second will run from 12:30pm to 2:00pm.
We will be accepting cash, checks and credit cards at Fall Fest!
**All sales are FINAL so please make sure to read what you are bidding on. We are not able to refund or make trades on any auction item you bid on**
ATTENDANCE IS KEY to our success! We know the weekend can be busy. Even if you have an hour to spare, we’d love to see you join us. This is an affordable, family friendly event. Bring the neighbors, ask Grandma & Grandpa to join you. The more the merrier.
At our event children and adults can enjoy:
~Games
~Face Painting by Lori
~Great food
~Silent Auction (Adult)
~Kids raffle
~50/50 and Meat raffle - CASH ONLY
Please note: When you come to check in you will be able to buy extra game tickets as well as tickets for the kid’s raffle. You will then go to the LIBRARY to get a number for said raffle. Make sure to write that number on any ticket you use for the raffle.
A separate table will be across from the library for the 50/50 raffle and meat raffle. These are Cash only. Food will be in the cafeteria so make sure to stop in for some hot dogs and walking tacos!
Student Attendance Competition
Our classrooms are having a friendly competition to win a pizza & pajama party! When students arrive at Fall Fest, they should check in at the front tables. They will then get to color in a square on our tracking chart to show they have arrived and student attendance for their classroom is on the RISE! The classroom with the highest % of attendance will win!
Remember, Fall Fest is our main source of funding for the Bay Harbor PTO. This event keeps our school fundraiser free. The funds go directly into our classrooms. In years past we’ve spent the funds on Seesaw, books, electronics, and classroom enhancements. Thank you for supporting our great school and faculty. We’re blessed with the best!

WANT TO BE A VOLUNTEER AT SCHOOL?
HOW TO BECOME APPROVED TO VOLUNTEER AT SCHOOL
Anyone who wants to volunteer in the Howard Suamico School District must first complete a background check through the district to get approved to volunteer. This includes, but is not limited to, chaperoning on a field trip, helping in the classroom, or helping at one of the PTO Family Fun or other school events.
Please keep in mind that background checks can take as long as three to four weeks to process. Therefore, it is recommended that you complete this process as soon as possible to make sure that you would be approved in time for anything that would come up during the year that you would be interested in volunteering for.
Click HERE for instructions on how to create a Volunteer Profile and to begin the background check process.

~GIVING TREE LETTER~
The Giving Tree depends on our schools for food drives. Typically each month we partner with a school who hosts a food drive. In addition to Howard Elementary’s school food drive for November, Bay Port’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) wanted to further support our students and families during the Thanksgiving holiday. If you are looking for a little something extra to give in the spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday, FBLA would appreciate your support.
This month FBLA is collecting a variety of food items for The Giving Tree that help make long breaks without school breakfast and lunch easier for students and families in need. Please feel free to send donations with your students to put in the collections bins/carts near the main office of school. Items can also be dropped off during school hours. The Giving Tree appreciates the community support in helping FBLA ensure food is not a barrier when students are not in school.
