What Classes Should Your Future IB Student Take Next Year?
Next Year's Classes for Diploma Candidates

- Advanced 7th Grade Math
- Advanced English Language Arts 7
Incoming 8th graders interested in becoming an IB Diploma Candidate should take the following courses:

- Algebra I
- Advanced English Language Arts 8 or LEAP
Incoming 9th graders interested in becoming an IB Diploma Candidate should take the following courses:
- Adv. English I
- Spanish II

Incoming 10th graders interested in becoming an IB Diploma Candidate should take the following courses:

- Adv. Spanish II
- AP World History
- Chemistry
- Advanced Algebra II
Incoming 11th Graders interested in registering as an IB Diploma Candidate next year must submit their Diploma Candidate Application to Mr. Meek by enrollment night (February 17th).
Potential 11th Grade Diploma Candidates should take:
- IB English HL I
- IB Spanish SL I
- IB History of the Americas HL I
- IB Biology HL I
- IB Math Studies I or IB MAth SL I
- 1 IB Elective (IB Psychology or IB Visual Arts or IB Theatre or IB Chemistry)
Students should also work on getting required elective credits (Health, PE, Practical Arts, etc.) out of the way. A good but not required way to knock out some elective credits and lighten a student's load is to take summer school classes. Incoming 9th graders usually can take PE or Health class, and incoming 10th graders can take Personal Finance during the summer.
Prerequisites for Certificates
For example, a student interested in taking IB Biology will need to take Pre-AP Biology as a freshman and Chemistry as a sophomore. A student wanting to take an IB Math class will need to take Advanced Geometry as a freshman and Advanced Algebra II as a sophomore.
