Mrs. Walters' News
December is here and already sparkling with snow!
Thank you to the PTO and our families who helped with our Santa's Secret Shop! Lots of little children shopping for the families and friends needs some special support with counting money, choosing items and making purchases. We appreciate the time spent in our building working with our kiddos.
Is your family experiencing a separation, divorce, change of custody, guardianship or other related situation? This group may be for you! Mrs. Hogarth will be facilitating a peer support group called "Family Changes," which take place weekly during a recess period. This will be a semi-structured group where students share their experiences, problem-solve the challenges that come with two homes, missing a parent, family tension and other related topics. This will be an on-going group that will try to meet weekly throughout the school year. If you are interested, please contact Vanessa Hogarth, School Social Worker for information. vhogarth@lowellschools.com

Getting Good Sleep!
With the hustle of holiday fun and late evenings, it is especially important to maintain good sleep habits for a positive school day. Some good ol’ standby recommendations include:
Maintaining a consistent bedtime and routine
Allowing for at least 30 minutes of “quiet time” prior to bedtime. This could include reading, drawing, journaling, coloring, listening to calm music, etc.
“Unplugging” from TV and screens prior to bedtime, and especially during sleep time https://www.fatherly.com/health-science/blue-light-sleep-kids/
Interested in trying something new? YouTube has a number of guided meditation sleep clips that are great narratives for bedtime. Teaching children how to self-regulate is a valuable skill, and can be fun to learn with tutorials and various apps.
A great 14 minute option is:
