online ordering of spring pictures and class pictures deadline is april 22nd
Greystone parents,
Many have asked about how you can purchase the spring school pictures, which include both individual pictures and group pictures. These pictures were taken on March 4, 2020 by Belmont Studios.
Belmont has provided the information below for you:
For most of the students, the access code to the individual photograph is the student's 10-digit ID number (19... ). The deadline date for ordering from this gallery is April 22nd. (Students who enrolled after fall pictures will have a different access code. Dr. Stocks emailed you that code.) Here is the link to the individual photo gallery: https://www.belmontstudios.com/order/2020-spring-school-day/greystone-elementary-school-spring-school-day-2020/
Here is the direct link for the class group portraits: https://www.photoreflect.com/store/thumbpage.aspx?e=10552419. To avoid two separate shipping fees, when you order the class group photo, enter the promo code "PICKUP" towards the end of their order. This will take off the shipping charge (it does not mean they need to pick it up). This may only be used if you are ordering both the individual spring (on the other website) and the class group portrait. They will be shipped separately since they are coming from two different departments but will only be paying the one fee.
Summary:
Spring individual pictures and class group pictures can be ordered online, but are separate orders. You have until April 22nd to order individual pictures. Use the code above to avoid paying for shipping the group pictures IF you order individual pictures.
If you have any specific questions about the pictures and ordering, please contact Belmont Studios at: belmontstudiospelham@gmail.com

a note from dr. stocks
Parents,
Due to the loss of two weeks this term and our current distance learning situation, Hoover Elementary teachers will not be sending home traditional progress reports for each subject. However, you can expect an informal email letting you know if your child is making progress towards understanding the standards taught during this nine week term. If your child is not making progress overall or in a particular subject, teachers will provide more detail and request that you contact them for more information. Thank you.
Parents, if you run into difficulty and have needs regarding internet access, device availability, or transportation to pick up essential items at the school, please contact Dr. Stocks.
a note from mrs. williams about chromebooks
Here are some considerations BEFORE bringing the device to the school to be left for a repair.
We are working with the district to follow all of the required precautions during this time. This will cause the chromebook repair process to take longer than usual. Technicians will pick up after there has been a period of quarantining. It may take 5-7 days for devices to be returned to the building.
Chromebooks will only be repaired if they are not working. The technology department will only process critical repairs during this time.
If there is a need for a repair, please email Mrs. Williams (shwilliams@hoover.k12.al.us). Please let her know the student’s name and the reason a repair is needed. For now, if the chromebook is working, do not turn it in for a repair.
When a repair is completed and the device is returned to the building, Mrs. Williams will communicate with you.
COVID-19 Update
Grace Klein Community is a resource for food. We know that some parents are concerned about providing food for their children. We have created a form for these parents to sign up to receive food while the schools are out. Click here for the form.

Children and Teens Can Respond to Stress in Different Ways
Anxiety and sadness during a time of stress can look different in children and teens; they don’t always respond in the same way. Here are some things to look for:
Anger even at small irritations
Excessive crying, especially in younger children
Excessive worry or sadness
Unhealthy eating habits
Too much or too little sleep
Avoidance of school assignments
Unexplained headaches or other pain
Substance use/abuse
Unusual avoidance of family activities or activities previously enjoyed
The appearance of being numb
If you see any of these changes in your child or teen; don’t hesitate to reach out to your school counselor. Counselors are still here and available to help students, parents, and families.
