Principal's Message

Hello Maryland Families!

We are so excited to see you during Parent Teacher Conference Week! Please remember that each day this week, students will be dismissed early, at 12:54pm.

Please reach out to your child's teacher or our office if you need help scheduling your conference. Remember, you can always reach out at any time to schedule a conference with your child's teacher. Next week will be the Fall Break. All school in Vista will be closed for the week of November 21 to November 25. Classes resume on Monday, November 28th.

As a reminder, please do not drop off your student in the front office in the morning. Please use the back gate to drop off your students. We have a single point of entry for students in the morning. This helps to ensure we can attend to parents, keep the office less crowded and not create traffic in the front of the office. Thanks for your help!

Sincerely,

Frankie Leivera

Principal

Free Heart Screening Event at Madison Middle School

Vista Unified and Madison Middle School are pleased to partner with the Eric Paredes Save a Life Foundation and offer free heart screenings to the Vista Community. Last year, a Madison Middle School student tragically lost his life to sudden cardiac arrest, a leading cause of death among children, especially student athletes. To honor his memory, Madison Middle School hopes to screen 600 students and community members for undetected heart conditions.

Join us on Sunday, December 4th for free heart screenings. Each screening will include a cardiac risk assessment, EKG, cardiologist consultation, and, if indicated, a limited echocardiogram. This special event is only available to those 12 years of age or older. Please register early at Madison Middle School Screen Your Teen or through the QR code on the attached flier.

Please bring your student on time! Being on time helps prepare students to be successful in school and in life. Student's day begins at 8:00am in the morning. Running late may cause students anxiety! Coming to school on time lets students know that it is important. This is a life long habit that will help your child be successful in their future careers. Reminders

It is required to have a photo-ID when picking up your student early. Anyone picking up a student must be on the emergency contact list, which you updated during the re-registration process. Please keep that information updated. This is for your child's safety.

It is our policy to not release students 20 minutes before the end of the school day.

When dropping off or picking up your student, please do not get out of your car and leave it unattended. Please only park in the marked parking stalls and please do not stop in your park behind parking spaces. This causes traffic. Use our crosswalk and do not cross in front of cars. We want to keep everyone safe and we need your help!

If you are bringing food for your child, please make sure that you let your child and your child's teacher know through ClassDojo so your student can be prepared to pick it up at lunch. We will do our best to let the teacher know as well, but sometimes our office gets busy, especially during lunchtime.

We value kindness and safety at Maryland. Please speak kindly to our staff and practice safety everyday. Together, we will make this the best year ever!

PTA at Maryland Elementary

We have a dedicated group of parents who work in conjunction with our school staff and community to make our school the best place to be. The PTA works tirelessly to provide school-wide events (Mako camp out, jog a thon, dances, promotion, assemblies, movie nights) that make school fun and build community.

Please consider joining our PTA. All money goes back to support your student!

PTA will be present during the registration days and kindergarten orientation to sell T-Shirts and other fun items. Please bring cash or check!
