Friday's Rewind
A look back, some time to reflect, and a look ahead...
Something to be PROUD of...
I wanted to take a moment to share with you a positive message that I received from one of our families during holiday break that made me very proud to be a part of our great school. Upon opening the gift and the card that accompanied it, I read the following message that I included in the image of below: "Thank you for turning our little school into something to be so PROUD of!" It is amazing how such a short and simple message can bring out so many emotions. I was immediately humbled, happy, and proud that a family would take the time to recognize and validate the work that we are doing to improve learning opportunities for students. I felt that it was necessary to share this message with each of you as it is because of YOUR work that I was given this message. The thanks goes to YOU for being the ones who have shown the courage to step out of your comfort zone in order to provide new and relevant learning experiences for kids. The thanks goes to YOU for taking responsibility for the academic, emotional, and behavioral growth of each student that walks through out doors and ensuring that ALL kids are provided with the supports they need to learn. The thanks for to each of YOU for building relationships with our students, especially our most challenging ones who really need you the most because these relationships are the foundation for any academic growth and success that will be achieved. I have also had parents who have talked me about innovation and technology integration at MES and how they have been talking to friends in other districts who are amazed at the opportunities that we are offering. Your forward thinking and willingness to challenge traditional educational practices is changing perceptions of our school. Thank you so much for your efforts. This card is for you!
PBIS
Our PBIS team met this week to review current practices and identified needs moving forward. We will be scheduling a meeting with teaching staff and ESP's to review this information and gather feedback in the coming month or so. In the meantime, please review your student reflection forms, behavior matrix, and flow chart to ensure consistency in our implementation. If you have any questions, please see Lynn, Lynne, Lisa, Teri, Melissa, Steve, or myself. Additional information can be found on our PBIS site linked at our One-Stop Shop.
