Principal's Corner
A Donor (or Two) is Needed
A team of staff, parents, and community members met last year to develop a strategic plan for SLS. In conjunction with this Strategic Planning Committee, our Marketing Team also spent last year developing a new marketing plan. Their goal is to have the marketing plan in place by February when people begin signing up for the next school year.
Every year the Finance Committee is gracious enough to give us a budget allowing us to accomplish what is needed. But as recently as last week a unique marketing opportunity presented itself and we find ourselves in need of some additional funds.
We already had one person (a very good friend to the school and someone dear to my heart) offer to donate $1000 to this effort. That leaves an additional need of $1200. If you or someone you know would be interested in donating to this cause, I would be happy to explain exactly what we are hoping to do. You may also contact Kathy in the school office or Amy Tonges or Father Stan in the parish office with any questions. Thank you!
Mr. Moeller

Kindergarten Fun
Pumpkin Glyph
On Friday, October 21, the Kindergarten students in Mrs. Konradi and Farmer's classroom at St. Louis School met with their 6th Grade Buddies to work on a Pumpkin Glyph Project. They had to answer the following questions to construct their pumpkins.
Afterwards, students created their glyphs and will analyze their data this week to decide what they're pumpkins are showing them. Glyphs are a way to collect, display and analyze their data. It's also a great way for students to get to know their peers better through visual representation. Afterwards, Kindergarten students were able to pull their 6th grade buddies aside and read their leveled readers. They absolutely loved it!

7th Grade News
The seventh grade classes at SLS were fortunate to get members of surrounding businesses to come into the classroom to speak. On Friday, October 21, Nancy Meyer from the Hansen center, joined the seventh grade to present information about cancer. She explained how cancer invades the body, the variety of treatments available for cancer, new information on cancer, and basic knowledge of cancer. She shared pictures of actual cancer cells and brought her vast experience to answer questions the students presented. The class realized how cancer has affected all of our lives in some way.
On October 24, Shelbi Reed and Deric Hudson from Kova Fertilizer Inc. in Greensburg, presented to the seventh grade about agriculture and how it relates to each person in their daily lives. They explained a variety of careers in agriculture and what a farmer actually does. The term farmer encompasses a wide variety of jobs, not just animals and grain. Students asked many questions and gained a better understanding of where many products we use in our daily lives originate.

St Louis 6th Grade Basketball Recap
The St. Louis Cardinals 6th grade boys basketball team played their 1st game of the season tonight at St. Mary’s in North Vernon and were victorious by the score of 39-37 in overtime. It was a very competitive, close game all night which saw the Cardinals down by three points at halftime mainly due to the hot shooting of the Wildkats who were an impressive five of five from the three point line. The second half had several lead changes and at the end of regulation the score was tied at 33. In overtime, the Cardinals finally put away the Wildkats with six unanswered points and solid defense. The team was led in scoring by Alec Bunselmeier (14), Charlie Schebler (11), Nate VanKirk (8), Noah Tuveson (4) and Frank Forbeck (2). Luke Meyer, Cy Muckerheide and Jack Hollins also significantly contributed to the win.
The next game will be Thursday, October 27th at St. Michael’s in Brookville.
