On Thursday, May 5, the New York Mills Elementary School will host three concerts. Third grade will perform at 6 p.m.; fourth grade at 6:30 p.m.; and the fifth & sixth grade band will perform at 7 p.m.

NY Mills Elementary School tries to schedule a variety of field trips for our students. We know that students enjoy the learning experiences that they get outside of the classroom. Field trips foster class bonding, cooperation and create memorable shared experiences. They are a great way to celebrate a year of hard work and learn something new in the process!
May 10 - Kindergarten Field Trip to The Farm
Field Trip! New York Mills Kindergarten students will tour the Mursu Dairy Farm in the afternoon on Tuesday, May 10. Tom, Tammy, Jeremy & Vanessa Mursu have an exciting day planned for the kindergarten students, including checking out the robotic milking system, learning about a variety of farm animals and making a feed mixture for the cows. This field trip will take place rain or shine, so please send students dressed accordingly.
They will arrive back at the school before the end of the school day.

Wednesday, May 11 - Track & Field Day at the NYM Football Field/Track
Grades 4-6 will be in the morning from 8:45-11:15 a.m.
Grades 1-3 will be in the afternoon from 12:30-2:30 p.m.

Thursday, May 12 - Kindergarten Track & Field at the NYM Elementary Playground from 1-3 p.m. (or in the gym if raining)

Field Trip! New York Mills Fourth Graders will spend the day fishing, hiking and biking during their field trip to Glendalough State Park on Wednesday, May 18.
May 19 - Class of 2022 Senior Breakfast at 7:45 a.m.
May 19 - Second Grade Field Trip to Bonanzaville
Field Trip! New York Mills Second Graders will spend the day exploring Bonanzaville on Thursday, May 19. This trip will take place rain or shine, so students should dress accordingly.
May 19 - Kindergarten Gymnastics Field Trip
Field Trip! New York Mills Kindergarten will visit the Perham Area Gymnastics facility on Thursday, May 19. Midmorning, students will be bussed to the Perham facility where they will learn how to use gymnastics equipment safely. Students will be able to enjoy the gymnastics equipment for most of the morning. The field trip will end with a picnic lunch (with sack lunches provided by the school kitchen), before going back to school for their normal end of the day schedule.
May 19 - Grades 5/6 Music Concert at 6 p.m.
May 20 - Fourth Grade Field Trip to Recycling Center & Rollerskating
Field Trip! New York Mills Fourth Graders will visit the Otter Tail County Recycling Center in the morning and enjoy rollerskating as a class in the afternoon.
May 20 - Fifth & Sixth Grade Community Project
May 25 - Elementary Spelling Bee 8:45 a.m.
May 26 - NY Mills High School Senior's Last Day
May 27 - Last Day of School
- All School Bingo sponsored by the Community Supporting Classrooms

Students shared their art with businesses throughout the school year and also enjoyed many experiences:
Sixth Graders enjoyed their 3-D House Competition, which was sponsored by Lumber Depot.
Fifth Graders made holiday cards for their adoptee
Most of the business partners offered tours throughout the school year.
Centennial Reality brought in cookies and sweet toppings for their 2nd grade friends
Second Graders also learned about flowers, thanks to their Designs by Tes partnership
Most of the businesses popped by throughout the year to read to students
Third grade enjoyed a sleigh ride, courtesy of Farmers & Merchants
Pre-K enjoyed a visit with Santa, when they visited Farmer’s Daughter Rustic Bakery
Magnifi Financial gifted the kindergarten kids with colored pencils and collected artwork from the kdg classes to display at the nursing home.
Plus, many business partners gave their time and volunteered in the classrooms for projects that needed an extra hand.

FROM THE NURSE'S OFFICE
To help prevent the spread of illness:
- Encourage your child to wash their hands.
- Ensure your child gets adequate sleep each night.
- Provide a water bottle for your child to use at school to keep him/her well-hydrated.
- If your child is ill or is not feeling well, please keep him/her home.
- If someone within your household tests positive for COVID, please keep all students that live in that house at home. Call the Health Office 385-4216 for further guidance.
Pink Eye - MDH no longer requires schools to exclude students with pinkeye. This was changed in 2019.
Fevers - Students should be fever-free (without the use of medications) for 24 hours before returning to school.
Strep Throat - Your child will need to be on antibiotics for at least 12 hours before returning to school.
Vomiting and/or Diarrhea - Students can return when has had no vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours.
