Principal's Message
Dear Memorial Families,
What a busy week we had! It was so nice to see all of you at our annual Open House this week. This tradition is one that we all look forward to as it is a chance for our students to show off their classroom, locker, teachers, and school to their parents. It is so wonderful to see the children serve as their parents' "tour guide" as they show them all of their favorite parts of our school. We had a great turn out and the evening was just perfect!
We also conducted our annual, universal screening assessments in reading and mathematics. A team of educators "casts a net" in the fall each year to identify students who might need some short-term, targeted intervention to help build a strong decoding, comprehension, and mathematical foundation for future success. This data collection kicks off our "Response to Intervention" program for the year and helps us better meet the individual academic needs of our students.
We were surprised by the Manchester Fire Department with our first fire drill earlier this week. I was so proud of the staff and students as we passed with flying colors!
Phfew! That really was a busy week! So much was accomplished and much more is to come!
Enjoy the weekend!

Open House scavenger Hunt Winners...Pass the word!!!!
There were so many great submissions for our "One thing I love about MMES is..." contest! All entries were reviewed by an esteemed group of judges and we could not pick just one! Congratulations to the Jakes family, Eilie Orne and Chase Anderson for their creative and heart-warming submissions! Eilie, Chase, Violet, Emerald, and Freddy...stop in the office to see Mr. Willis to set up your special lunch prize!
Chase Anderson
"One thing I love about MMES is being a HORNET- just like my mom was....many, many years ago."
Eilie Orne
"Mrs Seaman is one of the things I love most about Memorial because she has been with me since kindergarten, and one day she said to me, 'Everyone needs a little Eilie Orne in their life' ".
The Jakes Family
We love that Memorial is a warm and welcoming place for the whole family. Different grades (3,2,K), different learning styles, different personalities....but still a great fit for everyone.
And we love the library- and books - and Mrs. Silag.

Note for "Walkers"
If your child typically walks or bikes to school and used the footbridge in the past, you will notice that the footbridge is closed currently. A truck hit it during the summer and the district is working with insurance companies to get it repaired. In the meantime, students who used the footbridge in the past, should walk or ride to our new crosswalk in front of the school. They can push the button to signal the lights so that they can cross the street safely and then walk up the new island sidewalk to the front of the building. There is a beautiful new bike rack located in front of the school for their use. Please review this with your child if it impacts him/her.
