Hardware is when you can physically touch the device; I may have to open up the base unit to find it but I can still find the physical object.


I can see or use a program; making use of the hardware to make something happen.

Input Devices

In computing, an input device is a piece of computer hardware equipment used to provide data and control signals to an information processing system such as a computer or information appliance. Examples of input devices include keyboards, mice, scanners, digital cameras and joysticks.

Output devices

An output device is any piece of computer hardware equipment used to communicate the results of data processing carried out by an information processing system (such as a computer) which converts the electronically generated information into human-readable form.

Storage Devices

A storage device is a device in which information and data can be stored.

Computer Programs

A computer program or app is a sequence of instructions, written to perform a specified task on a computer. A computer requires programs to function, typically executing the program's instructions in a central processor.

Operating Systems

The low-level software that supports a computer's basic functions, such as scheduling tasks and controlling hardware equipment.
