Dear Parents and Guardians,
We hope you are enjoying the start to the Fall Break with your families. What a treat it is to have this beautiful weather to enjoy!
Thank you for taking the time to check the upcoming events, read special announcements, and keep tabs on the great things happening at Creekside. Take time to review the expectations below for Halloween costumes - we don't want any sad student faces due to not being aware of the expectations for costumes.
Thank you, also, for participating in our Foodie Fundraiser (see below)! We are excited to use the funds to help provide field trips and other learning opportunities to our students. These cards make great gifts for friends and family! Please note this round of the fundraiser will close next Friday, October 21.
Stay Connected!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Schow
Lunch with the Mayor!
Each grade level nominated one student to attend Lunch with the Mayor this week. We joined other Kaysville elementary schools to learn more about the city of Kaysville and the many workers who keep the city running well. We were able to share out the great things our Creekside Comets are doing to make our school the best! Thank you to Mayor Tran and the City of Kaysville!

Thank you for your support!
Halloween
Expectations:
- No weapons or fake weapons
- No masks
- No face paint of any kind
- No costumes that display words, images, or content that violate district or school policy
- If students are not in compliance, parents will be called and student will be brought to the office to change what's not in compliance (or have parent pick up, depending on offense)
District Guidelines for Halloween:
- Be Respectful: Avoid stereotypes. Be racially sensitive and culturally appropriate. Students may not dress up as an ethnic or cultural groups (i.e., a Mexican, a Geisha, a Native American, etc.). Skin color must not be altered in any way.
- Be Responsible: Recognize that students in a wide age range will see the costumes. Costumes should be family friendly. Masks may not be worn. Costumes may not be gory or threatening. No make-up is allowed.
- Be Safe: No hand-held accessories real or pretend (i.e., wands or weapons) are allowed. Crown or hats may be worn.
- Be Kind: Costumes should be fun and exciting, not political, or offensive.
- Be Understanding: Students may dress up as fictional characters if they follow the above guidelines.
- Be Timely: All celebrations should be limited in time and held at the beginning or end of the school day.
- Please note: Dressing up as Pocahontas or other Native American Leaders is inappropriate. Culture is not a costume. In respect to the Native American view, please advise students to refrain from dressing up as Native Americans (i.e., Pocahontas, Sacagawea, Sitting Bull, etc.). This is cultural appropriation and is unacceptable.
Thank you for taking the time to ensure students are following the guidelines with their costumes. We want to make sure that we maintain a fun and appropriate environment for all students. We also want our celebrations to be a positive experience that leads to a building up of community rather than division. These guidelines were shared with our school's Community Council and approved.
Keep Creekside Accessible!
Please only use the accessible parking spaces if you have the required parking permit displayed in your vehicle.
If you utilize the drop-off/pick-up lane in front of the school, thank you for remembering to keep the crosswalk clear. It is imperative that we keep our building accessible to all students, staff, and visitors. If someone parks in the accessible parking spot, they need to be able to access the school via the crosswalk and accessible ramp. Thank you for Being Kind!
