Angel Bird
White Peacocks/Peahens/Peachicks/Peafowls
Somewhat famous...
By "somewhat famous" I mean that they are in some places. Some people have saw them, some people didn't. You're not alone! White peafowls are in the Scovill zoo which is in Decatur, Illinois. They live in India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, those places are all cities of South Asia. Speaking of where they live, they live up to 20 years of age.
They can change colors?!
The answer to that would be, yes. But only green, blue and white. You wished they can change to pink, yellow, red or any other colors. But they can't. Because the feathers on a white peafowl depend on which genes are dominant and which are recessive. Some people ask if they are the same thing as green peafowls, yes, even if it's white, it's still the same thing.
Nom nom nom
Don't worry, white peafowls don't starve themselves. They also don't eat the food we eat, and they shouldn't anyways. The white peafowls are ground-feeders that eat insects, plants, and small creatures like bugs. Because of that, they are omnivores.
They're too beautiful!!
Someday, these animals will become extinct. And nobody will remember them ever again. But the cause of their extinction is, habitat loss. This is why nobody should build any more buildings! Or maybe their habitat is just being taken away by other animals. There used to be about 350-1,500 about to be extinct, but now there's 600-1,700 in extinction! Also, as said to a lot of people, there are less than 10,000 peafowls left in the wild.
Are they small? Or big?
They are not as big as humans are, but they are almost the size of a chicken. But with feathers, makes it bigger. They are 3 feet tall and 6 feet wide when measured.
Are they actually birds?
Well, sort of. They can fly, but by their big size, they can't stay in the air for long. As said in the last sentence, they are big but they can still fly a little. They can fly up to 4-5 feet of flight.
Genders?
These birds aren't just called peacocks, they can be called something else too. The collective term of these beautiful birds is "peafowl." The males are "peacocks" and the females are "peahens." The babies are called "peachicks."
