Cimarron Middle School Newsletter - September 25, 2015
Colts Chronicle provides bi-monthly information to parents, students, staff, and community
Cimarron staff members would like to thank you for your time and support this week with parent teacher conferences. We value our partnership with you and look forward to continuing to collaborate with you throughout the school year. Thank you to the PTO and the parents that brought in dinner on both conference nights. We appreciate your feedback and positive comments both about the process and about the student / teacher relationships that have been formed in the first quarter.
If you are interested in learning more about effective strategies for parenting adolescents, and the unique characteristics of middle school students, the nine middle school principals are putting on a parent symposium this school year. This will be a great opportunity for us to continue to partner with you to meet the needs of all of our students. Please watch for details in the upcoming months!

Each team provide slightly different styles of conferences. Some conferences were student lead whereas other were more a traditional parent to teacher format.
Reunification Drill October 02, 2015
Safety is our number one priority at Cimarron Middle School and in Douglas County School District. With that said, we are constantly monitoring physical safety for all students. This includes Standard Response Protocols for Evacuation, Shelter in Place, Lock Out and Lock Down. We have successfully completed two evacuation drills so far this school year.
The next step is a Reunification Drill. The first evacuation/reunification drill is scheduled for Friday, October 2nd beginning at 1:15 PM. Since this is the first reunification drill, this drill does not involve parent pick up. Students will learn about the expectations and their roles in evacuation and reunification through Advisement class lessons prior to the drill.
