Tech Corner
Tech Tool Tuesday is Feb 24th @ 2:35pm in 2-233 with a part 2 follow up to Thinglink, an interactive image digital tool. It is both web-based and app-driven. Even if you didn’t make it last TTT, you are most welcome to attend. There’s a presentation to view here to get you started.
Ran across a quirky digital tool the other day - gzaas! If you ever need to communicate a message in an extra large size and then want to share as a link, this tool is an option. For example, you might project a message for students to view upon entering the classroom or perhaps, personalize a special message to email someone.
Instructional Strategy - Engaging in collaborative discussions and debates can enhance student understanding and refine their reasoning abilities. One of the more popular strategies for applying Marzano’s #18 element, Helping Students Examine Errors in Reasoning, can be a staged class debate to address errors of faulty logic, weak reference, misinformation, etc. Using similar elements, one can use a video to show one or both sides of a controversial topic and then either debate themselves at the online debate forum or examine and analyze the responses already posted for popular debates. For example, show Discovery Streaming’s video, Smoking Kills (you will need to log in to discoveryeducation.com - let Marie know if you need help!), and then review and analyze errors in reasoning from responses on the debate, Smoking Ban. Many times, argumentation and reasoning discussions are interdisciplinary as we draw upon science, health, social studies, economics, media, and marketing in this example.

REMINDERS
Student Services is busy working on planning LWIT’s graduation ceremony for May 28, 2015. LWIT teachers please share the following with students - The link to order your sizes for graduation gowns is http://goo.gl/forms/rvsa3g739G . The deadline to submit your size is Monday, March 2nd so we can place the order. If you have questions or concerns, feel free to stop into Student Services for assistance..
- We need your help! Please do not park in the visitor parking spaces. Many elderly customers have to walk long distances for services because the lot if filled by student vehicles. We don't want our customers to become discouraged and stop coming to our school because they need to park so far from the building. There is plenty of parking in the high school lot for students. Please help us keep visitor parking available for our visitors as it was intended.
- February PLT reflection forms are due February 28th.
