The Truth Behind Blood Spatter
I'll help YOU solve that murder :)
Height the blood fell from:
As an investigator, examine the spikes and satellites of the blood droplet(s). The more satellites and the further distance they are from the droplet = a fall from a higher height. The spikes may be closer to the droplet indicating a short fall, or they may be stretched out further from the droplet indicating a fall from a higher height.
Angle of impact the blood hit the surface at:
As an investigator you would examine the length and diameter of the droplet. The higher the angle, the more long and stretched out the droplet would be. The shorter and thicker the droplet is is and indication of a smaller angle of impact.
Direction the blood was moving:
As and investigator you would examine the tail of the blood which is usually long and thin. This tail points in the direction it was traveling.
Velocity of the blood / Which weapon was used to create the blood:
As an investigator take a look at the diameter of the blood which will differ as velocity changes. Blunt force beatings have large diameter droplets, stabbing blood droplets have thinner diameters than those in result of a blunt force beating. Shootings have super thin, mist like droplets, almost looks like you sprayed some blood onto a surface with a device that mists. Finally, if an explosion has taken place, you will notice almost nothing, because this person in the explosion became "pink dust", which means they are now floating particles in the air that you are inhaling and exhaling now.
Where the blood originated from (lines of convergence):
As an investigator of my words, you can now examine which way the blood was traveling and from where it originated. Find the tail of the blood droplet, now draw a straight line backwards from that tail. Repeat this for all visible blood. Once all are drawn or marked in some way, they should intercept in one place, which is called lines or convergence. This interception of lines or markings is likely the place of origin.
