Piedmont Avenue Staff News
September 19, 2016
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
Teaching is not an easy job. In fact it is hard. But I know your dedication, hard work and perseverance will pay off. The students will learn because you keep trying. If for some reason you fail, you pick yourself up and try again. Believe you can do it! With so many new teachers on staff, I want you to know, many experienced teachers will tell you, getting to know your students, their families and what makes them show their best is a learning process. Every year, with a new group of students, it takes time. Hang in there and keep trying to you find that strategy that works best.
I appreciate all of you for teaching our students at Piedmont Avenue. Our students need the best, your best, and I see you giving your best daily. As the "honeymoon" has worn off, continue to hold students accountable for their behavior. Notify parents of their actions, reward those who are following the rules, and ask for help! Mr. Burbank and I are willing to call parents, set up behavior plans, model behavior systems for you etc. Let us know what you need. As you plan, use engagement strategies that include: ACADEMIC DISCUSSIONS. Students want to talk so give them the opportunity by posing questions for them to discuss and share. Use EQUITY STICKS randomly call on students. Engage them and have some fun as you teach!
