Trinity Kirschenmann's
4th Quarter Solo Project
Antonin Dvorak
Antonin Dvorak was born in Nelahozeves, Bohemia, a small town north of prague, in the year 1841. He was the oldest out of six children. His father was a professional zither player, inkeeper, and butcher. Antonin was in a band and was an apprentice butcher.
Theme from "New World Symphony"
The Theme from "New World Symphony" was written while Dvorak was visiting America in 1893. He originally named the song Symphony No. 9 in E Minor, Op. 95: From the New World, but was later given a nickname. Dvorak was inspired by American spirituals and folk songs, so he included some of their melodies in the song

Something I learned about this project is that when you know the back round of a piece it makes it more sentimental to play. I enjoyed that we got time in class to work on the project, but we also got time at home to work on it. Doing this project made me think more about what influenced the piece, and what to listen for when I played it. This is a project I enjoyed and that I would definitely do again.
