February's meeting was hosted by Oliver Elementary School. The district's Community Education Director, Mrs. Paula Thompson, and the Director of Safety and Security, Lt. Lon Russell, shared some important updates and exciting new projects happening around the district. The committee also discussed calendar options for the 2023-24 school year.

Each month, directors from around the district give updates and discuss questions and/or concerns from our advisory committee. Our school district is committed to growing and getting better everyday. All schools in Russell County are supported by Title I federal funds. Title I schools are required to set annual goals for school improvement, measure student progress using Alabama State Standards, and implement programs and services beyond what the district usually provides. The district and schools are also required to plan how they will involve parents and families in the education of their children. This newsletter is just one of many ways Russell County School District strives to keep families involved as well as educated on all Title I supports.
