The Latino Family Literacy Project
ELA COS welcomed the elementary schools to prepare for the launch of The Latino Family Literacy Project. This is a ten-week family literacy program in which families will have the opportunity to learn about strategies they can use to read at home with their children, along with new books to explore together. The books in this program are all bilingual, and reflect the experiences of many Latino families.
Through the Latino Family Literacy Project, parents will learn how to share books with their children so that every child can discover the joy of reading. This program is designed to be bilingual so that it will allow all to participate while providing the opportunity to practice both languages. The main goal of this program is to establish a family reading routine.

Read Across America at 4th St Primary Center
During the Read Across America event at 4th St Primary Center students were most thrilled to have read aloud sessions with special guests from the East Los Angeles Sheriff's Department. Students were also able to dress up as their favorite character from their favorite book as they participated in the literacy parade. It was a day full of learning and creativity.
