6th Grade

Board Games, Rewards and More!

December was spent revisiting more board games so students can work on partnerships, teamwork, critical thinking skills, decision-making, soft skills and behavior. This will help them better prepare for the spring semester when 6th GT will do their big project for the year.

Students also worked on their GT evaluations, which will be mailed home in January. Ms. Beabout's class also won a popcorn party for the all-school fundraiser participation! Great job!

Backpack Designs

7th grade GT finished their backpack project building (see photos below). They will work on a marketing campaign for the backpacks after the 7th grade GT Competition in March is over.

January-March will be filled with GT competition practice in the library most every advisory day. Students will be working on STEAM skills (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) as to best prepare for being partnered with 7th GT from NBMS. The 7th GT Competition will be Tuesday, March 31 at the Westside Community Center. We ask that parents NOT attend this event due to lack of parking at this facility. We will take photos and share some of what we did at competition at the GT Parent Expo in April.

8th Grade

Farmer's Market

On December 7 and 14 8th grade GT students concluded their Marketing unit by selling handmade products at the New Braunfels Farmer's Market from 8-1:30. It was amazing to see how professional the students were with their booths, dress, demeanor, products, etc. We even got a shout out from a patron on Facebook on the Great Job New Braunfels page! It's always one of our favorite events of the year and we love getting to see the students shine while selling their own creations and making their own money.

Students did their financial reports with Ms. Bryant after their Saturday selling day. Each group only sold one Saturday (Dec. 7 or 14) and every group made a profit!

Social Media Posts

Below are each group's social media post that we blasted on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. We also shared it on our district's newsletter. Students were able to blast it out on their social media and their parents did as well. This increased traffic and sales at the Farmer's Market.
