Dear Barron Park Families:

Welcome Back to the 2021-2022 School year! Hopefully this email finds you all relaxed and rested. I am super excited to start off the school year. Our custodians Francisco and Jerry did a wonderful job cleaning and taking care of our school to help prepare for the arrival of approximately 220 students.There is a lot of information to share with you about the upcoming school year. Below I have included key information. I will be sending out a newsletter next week as well to keep you updated and informed.

Welcome to New Roles!

Michaela Bettencourt returned to JLS Middle School and will no longer be the English Learner Specialist. However, great news is that Amanda Redmond moved to the role of English Learner Specialist. Michael Benson resigned in the summer and there is an opening for the mod/severe class. I am currently in the process of hiring for this position and hope to announce the new team member soon. We are also welcoming a math specialist, Danielle Zaffaroni.


Tuesday, August 3rd from 6pm-7pm PAUSD will hold a Family Information Night on the Return To In-Person Learning for 2021-22, along with an alternative option for students who may have health risks. This session will begin promptly at 6pm to ensure sufficient time for breakout FAQ sessions following the overall presentation of information. During the main presentation, simultaneous interpretation will be available through Zoom in Mandarin and Spanish. In addition, the FAQ breakout sessions will be hosted in three languages: English, Spanish, and Mandarin. For more information see the PAUSD website:

Class Placements – Class placements will be emailed out by 4:00 PM, Wednesday, August 11th through Infinite Campus. Please remember to check your email SPAM folder.

School Safety – PAUSD continues to follow the guidance from CDPH (California Department of Public Health) and CDC (Center for Disease Control) regarding COVID safety protocols for our students and staff. As our Superintendent, Don Austin, shared in last week’s email, face masks will be required of all staff, students, and volunteers while indoors regardless of vaccination status. Outdoor masks are optional at this time. In addition, many of our strict social distancing policies have changed - we will no longer require the daily health screener and 6’ distancing markers and desk barriers will be removed across sites. I am working with PAUSD, our PTA and Barron Park staff to keep you informed and develop COVID protocols for our school community and will have more to share in the next few days. Please remember that guidance from the CDPH and CDC changes often and we will continue to update you to any new policies and recommendations as they are released.

School Lunches – PAUSD will be providing complimentary school breakfast at recess and lunch to our students each day. Please click this link for more information and details.

Kindergarten Families – We will have 3 “Welcome Sessions” on August 9th. You will get a separate email with more information and sign ups on Wednesday afternoon.

First Day of School-Our first day is August 12th.

Principal Coffees – I will be hosting a series of Principal Coffees throughout the school year where we can connect and have community conversations centered around specific topics. Please mark your calendars for my first virtual Coffee on August 12th at 5:30pm.

Designated Entry/Exit Locations– We will continue to utilize designated drop off and pick up student locations by grade level. I strongly encourage you to walk/scooter/bike with your child(ren) as much as possible to help with traffic congestion

Virtual Back to School Night- Back to School night is August 17, 2021 (more details to come)

Hello from your PTA President!

I can’t believe it is almost time for our children to return to school. As you just read, while we are so excited to welcome 213 BP students back to campus this Fall, COVID protocols means things still won’t be quite the same as before. That said, the Barron Park PTA is dedicated to ensuring that ALL BARRON PARK STUDENTS have a wonderful, supportive and engaging educational experience this school year.

And to make that happen we need your help!

Next week look for an email from me, your PTA president, with links to join the PTA and sign up to volunteer in classrooms, in the library and for PTA events. Yes, we will be able to host some of our beloved Barron Park events (re-imagined for COVID safety) including the Heritage Family Picnic on Friday, September 24th and a Virtual/Hybrid Walk-a-thon over the weekend of Friday, October 22nd.

Please also plan to join us for a virtual meet & greet with our new principal, Judy Argumedo on the evening of Thursday, August 12th. Zoom link to follow.
