Shoeboxes for Soldiers!

Items due to HMS no later than Monday, October 18.

Help us support our soldiers! They are still in need of items, we would like to invite you to participate again this year in Shoeboxes for Soldiers, a partnership program between Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto, the Mississippi Army National Guard, Mid-South Project Package and Desoto County schools. Last year, area students collected thousands of shoeboxes that shipped to soldiers from North Mississippi. Thanks for your continued help and support. This is the 15th year that we will be shipping shoeboxes to soldiers.

Any NJHS student or HMS Cheerleader will receive community service hours for donations made to this cause.

They will honor the top three schools that collect the most shoeboxes for soldiers with physical education grants.

$1,000 First Place

Big picture

Tik Tok Challenges

Parents, there is a national challenge called "Devious Licks". The challenge requires students to vandalize and/or steal school and/or personal property. Any student caught participating in this activity will be punished, fined, and possibly reported to authorities.

Quarantine Students

We have many students who are coming back from quarantine that have not completed many/any of their assignments. Every student has been issued a netbook. Every student has been trained to use Schoology, Teams, Office365, Clever, and other online programs. Please make sure your child completes ALL of his/her assignments while absent.

Drop Off

Parents, everyone must drop off at the front of the school. Do not drop off in the parking lot. We do not have staff on hand to monitor students. It also slows down the flow of traffic when cars have to stop and let people out of the parking lot. Please respect our rules and procedures.

Afternoon Pick-Up

Parents, please pick-up your student(s) behind the school each day. Please do not park at HHS and ask your student to walk to you. This puts an extra burden on the high school traffic.

Parent Portal

Parents- For access to your child's schedule, attendance, and grades please make sure you have access to Parent Portal. If you need a new account set up or password reset please contact melba.quesada@dcsms.org or kelly.winn@dcsms.org.

21-22 HMS NJHS Mentor Program

The HMS NJHS Mentoring Program will address the personal, educational and social needs of middle school students through one-on-one caring relationships with NJHS volunteers. Mentoring pairs work together to develop and achieve specific goals throughout the school year.

The NJHS HMS mentoring program will provide youth with opportunities to develop strong relationships with caring peers. Ultimately, our mentoring program will aim to nurture youth who are confident, college and career-ready individuals who play an active role in their communities.
