RCE Family Update
#teamRCE
2021-2022 school year here we come!
I hope everyone is doing well and excited about the upcoming school year. This enewsletter will be the first for this school year, with the goals of helping families be able to plan from month to month and to be informed events happening on the RCE campus. All information found in our RCE Weekly Updates will be useful for RCE families, whether they are enrolled on campus or virtually through PCVA. Thank you for your support as we return to campus on August 3 with the school day beginning at 8:30AM and ending at 3:05PM.
RCE has been busy over summer with Camp Clemson being at our site and our Custodial Team working hard to get our building ready for our halls to be full once again with students. We are looking forward to a school year that will hopefully resemble 2019 more than 2020. Many cleaning and sanitizing practices will stay in place, as we are planning on students moving to classes each period in our building with an emphasis being placed on contact tracing if needed in classrooms. SDPC is still waiting on expectations from DHEC related to school reopening and will communicate these requirements to families when they are made public. All students will eat lunch in our Cafe, but we will continue to have students report to a classroom space upon arrival to campus instead of large holding areas like the Gym or Cafe.
We are excited about being able to hold in-person Rookie Camp and Registration opportunities for families this school year. The goal for Rookie Camp is to help our new Grade 6 students feel confident that they know where to go and what to do the first day of school. Grade 6 students will be able to meet their teachers and walk their schedule. Rookie Camp will be held on July 29 with drop-off from 8-8:30AM in the student Drop-off area (side of school closest to DHS). This event is only for students this year and will conclude with students being picked-up from in front of the Main Office at 11AM. Grade 7 and Grade 8 Registration will be from Noon-6PM on July 29. Families may park anywhere on campus, but please enter the building via the Main Office entrance. This is an opportunity for students to walk their schedule. Make-up Registration will be held on August 2 from Noon-3PM. It would be our hope that families would use MySchoolBucks to pay for all fees prior to attending a registration opportunity.
Be on the lookout for a presentation to be shared with families to help the adults in your home feel confident about knowing what to do when you come onto the RCE campus on August 3. This information will be shared via an email sometime on July 29. We hope this information is helpful to our new families as well as a great refresher for families returning to RCE.
Checkout the information below for our school-wide supply list, daily bell schedule, Free/Reduced Lunch application (all meals are free again this year, but other opportunities require a meal application to be completed each year), paying fees, and After School Program Survey. If you ever have any questions about the information on the RCE Family Updates, please call the Main Office at 397-4200.
Looking forward to a great school year!

As of publication of the Update, the SCHSL has not yet given updates about travel expectations for athletics. Limitations on bus capacity could impact the size of teams and ability of trainers to travel with teams. More info to come in the future.
