Partee ES Parent Newsletter - September 2018
Principal's Message
We have had a great kick off to the new school year. August went by very quickly and was filled with positive learning experiences for our students. We also had a fun filled evening on Movie Night lead by All Pro Dads. Thank you to our All Pro Dads and all of our volunteers that help support learning everyday.
This month our 1st, 2nd, and 5th grade students will participate in the 2018 administration of the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT). Testing will begin on Wednesday, September 12th and will conclude on September 14th. Although no studying or preparation is necessary for this test, the following recommendations should help your child do his/her best each day:
· Get plenty of rest
· Eat a healthy breakfast
· Be at school on time
· Be prepared (glasses if needed)
Thank you for your continued support.

Parents and Teachers Helping to Keep Children Safe in School
The news media contains stories that highlight unfortunate situations in homes, schools and communities. Schools today have to be prepared to respond to the negative situations that exist in society so these events do not impact student learning. While parents are fearful when they read about negative situations at school, many children still report they feel safer at school than anywhere else.
It is important that we work together to help students learn how to handle negative situations at school. To help students understand that physical aggression is not an acceptable way to solve problems, please consider the following suggestions:
Help your child to resolve conflicts peacefully.
Monitor the TV programs and movies your child watches.
Closely monitor video games and social media pages.
Talk to your child and stay involved in his/her life.
Help your child anticipate and avoid situations that might lead to violence.
Be aware of negative influences in your community.
Help your child feel connected to positive groups: provide after school activities and/or sports for your child to participate in.
