November 2, 2022
I hope everyone who celebrates had a lovely Halloween and Dia de Los Muertos! Mr. Harris, PCS Superintendent/Magician came by to wow our kinders with a magic trick!
There were a lot of themed activities on campus lately, so be sure to walk through our main hall to see some fun artwork!
You will be receiving, or have already received a family Youth Truth survey from PCS. It is very short, but very important. Please take a few minutes to give us some feedback in order for us to continue to serve your students and our community the best we can.
One thing I'd like to remind all adults who are on campus for any reason: while you are on campus, everything you see and hear is confidential. If you learn of something concerning, please be sure to privately let the teacher or myself know about it, but no one may speak about a student other than their own to anyone else. Even if it seems trivial, we need to respect the privacy rights of students and families and not discuss students with anyone. Thank you for your understanding and support.
I have seen a continued increase in families walking to school! Wooohooo, way to go Panthers! This is not only good for traffic, and the parking lot, but for our bodies and the environment, too! Wins all the way around!
Remember to donate your old clothes to our Boox boxes in the parking lot! This is a fundraiser for Penngrove!
Looking forward to seeing you all at the Harvest Festival this weekend!
Stay awkward, brave and kind!
PennStaff Spotlight!
Question of the week from Principal Harp
Each week, I will be sending out a question with which you will be given the opportunity to engage in a new conversation with your child. We all know how hard it is to draw out responses other than, "nothing" or "fine" when we ask "What did you do today?" or "How was school?" Be sure to use open ended follow-up questions and statements such as "Tell me more about that!" or "What did you think of that?" Please ask your student(s) the question below, share their response with us and make our day! You can submit more than one response! (No need to put names or identifying words.)
If your best friend were to describe you in 3 words, what words do you think they would use?
Check out last weeks answers below
The Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports focus for this week is for students to follow the expectations for after school and the parking lot. Students need to get to their pick up location promptly and wait with a quiet, safe body for their ride.

I hope you all had a very wonderful Halloween and I am looking forward to making cider with you all at the Harvest Festival on Sunday November 6th! I will be up in garden with Ms. Barrell’s beautiful apple press that she is letting us use plus all the apples she got for us from Sebastopol. Huge Thank You to Ms. Barrell for her continued support of the garden program she created. Sixth grade will also have plants for sale during Harvest Festival in our new greenhouse come and check it out. All proceeds will be matched with grant $ we received to upgrade the pond in the garden.
We have hydroponic grow towers coming to campus! Look out for three big amazing hydroponic grow towers which we received as a grant from Whole Kids Foundation and also came with a bunch of curriculum to share with the students.
We are eating all kinds of foods up in the garden, using fall leaves, and most recently being butterflies and making art projects for Halloween. We are studying our worm friends in our vermiculture bins located in front of 4th grade classrooms. Garden is hopping! As always thanks to our extra great parent volunteers for giving us your time up in the garden. Get your hands in the dirt with your kids!
With Gratitude,
Ms. Ortiz
