Homework- for the next two weeks
K-Kids Literacy Bingo Night and Book Drive
The K-Kids are asking for book donations from our South Family. These books should be gently loved and can be for any age group! We will have them sorted by picture book, early chapter books, teen books, and adults. Any donations would be greatly appreciated!
If you are able, please send books in this week with your child. They will be given to the K-Kids representative in our class to be sorted.
Thank you for your constant help in projects like this!
ISTEP Schedule
Our Schedule:
Thursday, April 21- Math Section 1 @ 10:10-10:30am
Friday, April 22- Math Section 2 @ 7:50-8:40am
Monday, April 25- Math Section 3 @ 7:50-8:40am
Friday, April 29- ELA Section 1 @ 7:50-8:30am
Monday, May 2- ELA Section 2 @ 7:50-8:40am
Tuesday, May 3- ELA Section 3 @ 7:50-8:35am
Due to the early testing times, I will not be sending out a snack sign up list like IREAD. Please make sure your child eats a full breakfast! If your child is buying a school breakfast, please drop them off early (if they are a car rider) or send them in on the bus. That way, they have time to eat and let the food settle before we go test.
If your child is sick, please do not send them to school, even on a testing day. They can make the test up later. If they come to school and do not feel well, I may choose to have them go to the nurse's office during our test and they will make it up on another day when they are feeling better.
If you have any questions about ISTEP or our schedule, please let me know!

Simple Machine Project- Guidelines
What is the project?
-You will need to create a project that uses one or more simple machines (lever, wedge, inclined plane, wheel and axle, pulley, screw). Your project must do work (when force moves an object over a distance) OR solve a problem. You will need to be able to demonstrate how your project works when we share out in science class. You will also need to write a paragraph about how your project works.
What should I use?
-You can use any materials from home. You do not need to go out and buy anything. Be creative! Talk with your parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, whomever, and see what materials they have that you can use.
When is it due?
-The project is due Thursday, April 28, 2016. We will take Thursday during science time to share your projects with the class.
How will it be graded?
-Project was turned in on time: 5 points
-Project uses one or more simple machines: 15 points
-Project does work/solves a problem: 10 points
-Project can be explained when sharing with the class: 10 points
-Paragraph explains how the simple machine works: 10 points
50 points total!
*** We will NOT be going over any project ideas in class as students often copy what they have seen. However, feel free to Google for ideas =)
***Students will be bringing home information on each type of Simple Machines this week to use at home when working on their project.
