Dot Day!!!

On Wednesday, September 15th, ALL of Brock Tigers are invited to wear dots! Students and Teachers will be participating in International Dot Day. See the information below from Mrs. K! Let's ALL fill our hallways with students and teachers in dots "Making our Mark"

Mrs. K's Counseling Corner for the week of Sept. 13th

  • *Our "Essential 36" manner of the week: Always say, "yes" and "no" instead of "yeah."

  • Please click on the link to access the parent needs assessment. The link will expire at 4:00 P.M. Friday, Sept. 17. The needs assessment will provide Mrs. K. with valuable input on how to best serve the students and their families at Brock Elementary. It will only take a few minutes of your time. • It's time for Lunch Bunches to start!!! Mrs. Kirkpatrick will offer 4 different "bunches." Each bunch is divided up by grade level and only 6-8 students can participate at a time in order for the group to be most effective. Lunch bunches meet once a week for a month. Students will eat their lunch, which can be brought from home or pick up one from the cafeteria. They will learn coping skills to help them deal with parts of life that may be challenging for them. This will be a fun and active time of learning while they are enjoying lunch! There must be parent permission in order for any student to participate in a lunch bunch. If you are interested in your child participating, please email Mrs. K. at jennifer.kirkpatrick@bisdmail.net or call at 817-245-3800.

"Changing Families"-coping with a recent divorce, separation, re-marriage) NOTE: This lunch bunch meets once a week for a month and then typically every other week or whatever the students may need and is only for 2nd-5th graders. Please note that if your child is in need of support, at any grade level, please don't hesitate to contact Mrs. Kirkpatrick.

"Red Hots"-recognizing anger triggers and learning how to cope with that feeling

"Friendship Connections"-developing friendship skills and learning how to keep friends

"VIP's" (Very Important People)- learning self-worth, recognizing and celebrating themselves

"ROLO's" (Remembering our Loved Ones) NOTE: This lunch bunch is also for 2nd-5th graders only, but if your child is experiencing loss at any age, feel free to contact Mrs. Kirkpatrick.

  • EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT: Our Brock Tigers and staff will be participating in International Dot Day on Wed., Sept. 15. "Dot Day" is an extension activity of the book The Dot, which is about a teacher who inspires one student (by "making her mark"). This student then chooses to "make her mark" and inspire someone else, which starts a ripple effect of kindness and empathy. Students and staff are encouraged to wear clothes that have DOTS on them. Be creative and wear those dots on Wed., Sept. 15. For more information on International Dot Day, visit International Dot Day. As of this newsletter's printing time, over 20,000,000 students and staff in 195 countries are celebrating!

  • Next week, Mrs. K. will finish up her monthly Peace lessons with 3rd and 4th grade and will also visit 1st and 2nd grade! Students will learn about kindness, valuing themselves and friendship! For fun, feel free to watch the "Kindness Boomerang" video that many of the 3rd, 4th and 5th graders have seen! Kindness Boomerang video
