6th Grade GT Attends " Fun With Chemistry" at UT

Sixth grade GT students attended a "Fun With Chemistry" demonstration by Dr. Kate Biberdorf in Welch Hall at UT on Monday. The session focused on chemical and physical changes, and a number of students were chosen to assist with the different activities. The favorite activity by far was when liquid nitrogen was used to create ice cream. Please enjoy the video below of the "grand finale" which was shared with us by Sorelle J.

Afterwards, we walked to Dobie Mall, which was a good way to burn the energy after such an exciting morning. We ate at the food court, where the clear favorites were Pizza and Subway.

Thanks so much to all the parents who accompanied us on this trip!

Austin Lyric Opera Docent Visits

Students attending next week's "Night at the Opera" learned more about Romeo & Juliet thanks to Lissa Anderson, who visited HCMS and shared a presentation, including video clips, with the students. Fun fact: the set for this opera was rented from a company in Utah, and took 22 hours to unload.
