Here's What's on Top at Buena Vista - January 18, 2023
Note from the Principal
Greetings Buena Vista Parents,
Here is what is happening at Buena Vista Elementary!
Kindness Matters Campaign
Next Monday, we will begin a week filled with lessons and activities that remind us how important it is to be kind and thoughtful to one another. We will be making kindness chains and staff will be looking for opportunities to recognize kindness when it happens throughout the week.
Student Learning
I was able to visit Mrs. Sumnicht's second grade class where I saw our students working diligently during Writer's Workshop. They were learning about supporting their opinions in their writing by including why they had the opinion that they posing. They practiced by formulating an opinion and using "because" to give evidence or supporting reasons why they formed that opinion.
Positive Parenting Program
“Raising children and youth to become healthy, confident, capable individuals is the most important and rewarding job parents and caregivers have, but sometimes it’s also the hardest job. That’s why proven strategies and support from programs such as the Triple P – Positive Parenting Program are here to help,” Nicole Young.
January is Positive Parenting Awareness Month. C.O.P.E. offers wonderful resources to support parents, including this monthly newsletter. This month’s column is focused on building your child’s emotional resiliency. Learn more about C.O.P.E. and what is offered here.
It's a Great Day to be a Bulldog!
