Changes to Vaccination/Testing Status for Volunteers
- Beginning March 31, school volunteers will no longer be required to show proof of COVID vaccination or a negative test.
- In mid-April, our District will review the restriction on the number of volunteers allowed at one time. Currently, our protocols allow for no more than two volunteers per classroom at any given time.
- All volunteers must be cleared through Civicore.
COVID-19 At-Home Rapid Antigen Test Kits
We would like to thank the Alameda County Office of Education (ACOE) and the Alameda County Public Health Department (ACPHD) for providing free COVID-19 at-home rapid antigen test kits to all students and staff for optional use prior to returning from Spring Break. Test kits used prior to the return from Winter Break resulted in identifying more than 130 COVID-positive cases before staff and students returned to our campuses and facilities, and we are hopeful that voluntary testing prior to the return from Spring Break will be one way we can reduce the spread of COVID-19 once again.
At-Home COVID-19 Test Kit Distribution Timeline
Thursday, March 31: Distribution of test kits to students
Elementary students: Test kits sent home by classroom teachers
Middle school students: Test kits received during last period
High school students (GHS and LHS): Test kits received during second or third period
Del Valle and Vineyard students: Test kits available in the office
Friday, April 1: Students not present at school on 3/31 can receive a test kit from their teacher or school office. Our district and school offices will be closed from April 4 - April 8 for Spring Break and test kits will not be available for pick-up during that time.
Each kit contains detailed instructions for self-administration along with materials for two tests:
Test #1 is recommended for use 3 days before returning to school on April 8, 2022.
Test #2 is recommended for use 1 day before returning to school on April 10, 2022.
Purple, Access Bio/ CareStart Kits: Expiration date gives month and year only; a 4.2022 expiration means the kit does not expire until after April 30, 2022.
Reporting Results
It is not necessary to use the QR code or app download instructions on the test box to report results. Additionally, we will not be asking families to report results to PrimaryHealth, however, if your student receives a positive test, please follow our current COVID-19 isolation protocols.
We wish you a safe and enjoyable Spring Break next week and thank you for your partnership!
Regards,
