Mrs. Motsch's Monthly Report
Will March come in like a lamb or a lion? It's hard to believe that we will soon find out! I'd like to ask that you pay particular attention to the dates listed in this newsletter. I would like to draw your attention to the state testing dates for grades 3 & 4. It is especially important that your child report to school on time on these days. Please refer to specific information in this newsletter. Remember the first bell rings at 9:05 a.m. with the tardy bell ringing at 9:15 a.m. Students need to be in their class by 9:15 a.m. in order to participate in testing on these days.
Our spring break will be March 21st - March 27th with classes resuming for all students on March 28th. We look forward to continuing to provide a quality education experience for your child over the next 2 months.

Fun Session Submission

Kindergarten Registration 2022-2023
Children must be at least 5 years old by August 1st 2022 to be registered for kindergarten this fall. The district offers half-day kindergarten both morning and afternoon sessions. Parents may request a morning or afternoon preference. Depending on the number of parents with preferences, a lottery may have to be held to determine placement.
The kindergarten registration process begins by filling out the online registration. The system will be open by approximately 9 a.m. that morning. After completing the application - including uploading required documents - please submit the application. Once submitted, Welcome Center staff will review the application and contact you by email if there is anything else needed. If all is complete, an email will be sent to the parent stating the application has been approved/processed and the paperwork will be forwarded to the appropriate school.
All kindergarten students will be assessed in August. Parents may begin calling in July to schedule an appointment
VLA Enrollment
Dear Pickerington Families,
Enrollment for the Pickerington Schools’ Virtual Learning Academy for the 2022-2023 school year will open Thursday, February 24th (at 9:00 AM) and close on Friday, March 11th.
The VLA is a fully virtual option for students in grades 1-8 and a partially virtual option for students in grades 9-12.
There is a one-year commitment for enrolling in the VLA. There are no transfers in or out of the VLA in the middle of a semester.
Pickerington Schools partner with APEX and Edmentum to provide curriculum and teachers in a virtual setting. The majority of the work is self-paced and teacher access is limited.
If you are interested in learning more about the Pickerington Schools’ VLA please view the Virtual Learning Academy page at: https://www.pickerington.k12.oh.us/virtual-learning-academy/
Also, available (starting at 9:00 AM on 2/24/2022) on the VLA site is the waitlist/registration form that needs to be completed if you would like your student to be placed on the waitlist for VLA for the 22-23 school year. In addition to completing the form, parents and students are required to attend an in-person orientation. Information about the dates, times and locations of the orientation sessions is on the VLA website.
If you have any questions, please email those to VLA@plsd.us
