Geothermal Greatness
By Benjamin Lopez
Reasons Why Geothermal Energy is a Good Energy Source
- Almost entirely emission free
- Zero carbon
- The process can scrub out sulfur that might have otherwise been released
- No fuel required (no mining or transportation)
- Not subject to the same fluctuations as solar or wind
- Smallest land footprint of any major power source
- Virtually limitless supply
- Inherently simple and reliable
- Can provide base load or peak power
- Already cost competitive in some areas
- Could be built underground
- Some level of geothermal energy available most places
- New technologies show promise to utilize lower temperatures
How Geothermal Energy Works
We can also use geothermal energy to make electricity. A geothermal power plant works by tapping into steam or hot water reservoirs underground; the heat is used to drive an electrical generator. Most geothermal plants are located in the western United States, where hot water reservoirs are common.
A percentage of how many people use Geothermal Energy in different parts of the world
This is a percentage of how many people use Geothermal Energy in the world. The United States has the most people using geothermal energy with 28.70%percent using it.
People in Iceland using geothermal energy
People in Iceland have to use Geothermal energy because it is very cold overthere so they use steam from the energy resource to keep themselves warm.
Geothermal Greatness
My conclusion on Geothermal energy
Geothermal energy is a great energy source because it helps people all over the world, it has zero carbonation, virtually has limitless supply, and it has the smallest land footprint. You can build it underground and you can use it to heat or cool your home. It has been proven that geothermal energy has one of the lowest prices out of all the alternative energy resources. That is my conclusion on Geothermal Energy.
